JW15A-13"... Not a raging pile of ####

The 10rnd CZ polymer mags work flawlessly in my JW15. 20K rounds is a lot of ammo to break in a bolt….

I was joking about the 20K break in, I really meant 10K.

:)

I swore I would never buy another Norinco but this one seems to be an exception to the rule. Hopefully a triumph of optimism over experience.

My full size arrived today from Milarm, some minor differences aside from the barrel length of course.
Made in 2010, same Bell Lifestyles import markings, stock is different kind of plastic and it's a bit lighter but more rigid....more fiberglass like where the 13" is more nylon like (same as the Nork M14 black stocks).
Safety actually works very smoothly, doesn't need much force, sights are not mounted straight...which is more like the Norks I'm use to seeing, mag is nicely stamped blued steel vs the rough parkerized one that came with my 13", barrel and receiver are well machined, polished, and blued, very minimal tool marks. Bolt slides smooth on this one too and will open/close just tilting it, no binding. There is some play when it's locked down however, not as tight of lock up on the 13", but locking and cocking is a bit smoother on the full size.
Overall it's not bad, not as impressed with it as the 13" one, but if it shoots as good I will probably keep it. I like the lighter stiffer stock, may throw it on the short gun....

I shot mine today with open sights, it's a lot of fun to shoot. My Brno 10 magazine worked flawlessly, a slight issue with the Norinco 5 rounder but I have a simple fix; I'll simply put it back in the rifles original box and not use it any more. I have a rail coming so will mount a Leupold 4x rimfire scope in due course.

It fed every type of ammo and had a surprisingly good trigger. It's a lot of fun to shoot.

The mag may just need a good cleaning.... These things are drenched in whale oil or some#### before getting tossed in the plastic bag. I always tear everything right down... Bolt, mags, trigger group, etc and clean then re-oil each part. I use grease on most of the bolt guts to improve and smothen out the cocking/safety/firing functions.

OK, I will do that.

In the mean time I have been shooting it with both Brno metal 10 round and CZ 10 round polymer magazines and it's been flawless. I am waiting on a DIP rail to arrive (so I can mount a 4x scope) so I threw on a Bushnell red dot and it's even more fun to shoot than I could have imagined, I had a great time at the range today and hope to go back tomorrow. I am really glad I bought it and the price makes it a bonus.

A girl's gotta accessorize...

I put a red dot on mine and it was so much fun to shoot I began to doubt my original thinking of adding a Leupold 4X Rimfire scope. But then I thought this is a $197 rifle - I will just buy another and accessorize it to the max. So I have two, the second has the Leupold with Butler Creek scope covers, a DIP 0 MOA rail, Burris low rings, Uncle Mike's sling swivel studs, a Triad Tactical stock pack, a Magpul sling, a slew of magazines, a 33 inch olive green nylon drag bag (now with a brass 3 piece cleaning rod and jags etc off ebay) and now I'm trying to choose a bipod.

They both shoot very well and have good triggers. Fun fun fun.

Not bad fit and finish either for a Nork.
I was able to smooth out the safety on my 13" just by looking at the full size safety that worked with very little effort. Just had to reshape it and take it down a bit and all good....nice and smooth now

Thanks Hitzy,

Didn't know I wanted one of these until I saw your post especially the thread title. Have one on order from North Pro and a couple polymer mags from dlask. It also looks like one of my local stores has the VISM cheek risers for sale for $20 bucks so I can pick one up there and not have to pay shipping. We'll see how much I enjoy it and then a boyd stock might be in order lol.

Funny how a $200 rifle ends up costing 1/3 to double after it's bought and that's not even including optics yet lol

Had a nice late afternoon shooting session at the range and I can't help but love this little rifle. Even feeding it super cheap and dirty Remington Thunderbolt bulk, I still managed to pull off an almost ragged hole group at 50m.

Ordered one strictly because of this thread. How can I say "No" to a $200 gun? Should have it on Monday. Unfortunately going out of town for work so I will only get to man handle it before I leave for 3 months.

Lol I hear you, ordered mine should be here on Monday too, Found out today that I have to go work out of town starting tonight., fortunately it's only a week not 3 months but I won't get a chance to man handle mine until I get back lol. Our JW15's can be unloved together.

Picked one up today at Bulls eye in London, after getting it home and degreasing it and checking over, it looks like I'll only need to clean up the safety for a smoother engagement. As others have posted the CZ mags work, but I think I'll only run the metal 10rd as the poly one feels tight in the mag well. Need to get out to the range with this thing.

I shot a fairly large spider out of his web at 25yds with mine at the range this morning. There was some wind so it took me a few shots. He exploded quite well with good back lighting to show the effect.

:p

So....I was in the gun store and there was a JW 15a....picked it up and didn't put it down, needed another 22 like a hole in the head.
I noticed a couple of things,it's louder than my regular length JW15'even with 'quiet' shells.I like the rifle the way it's,carries very nicely but my eyes don't work like they used to so I have to either scope it,which I really don't want to do,it's just so nice and handy the way it is,so I might turn the rear sight into a ghost ring by attaching a small nut with JB Weld.No big deal if it doesn't work, but I've done that before with good results and it is a great improvement over the existing notch sight.Nothing wrong with the synthetic stock, but I'll probably spray paint it just to get away from the black.I might experiment with putting a removable but plate to store extra ammunition.

This rifle would probably be a good candidate for Tru Glow sights,if I could find a set that fit the dovetails....It's intended use is for casual plinking and small game, ranges not exceeding 50 yards at the outside. If the ghost ring modification doesn't work, then I'll probably put a fixed 4x scope on it and remove the existing iron sights.Cute little rifle though, and if it shoots like my other Norinco BRNO knockoffs, will match them for accuracy,if not fit and finish

Williams make a peep that fits on rimfire dovetails... You could try one of those, and ditch the barrel mounted open sight completely.

I've gone through 3 different set ups already....the 1-4x22 scope which is a small scope but still too long, a red dot which is fun and fast but not precise enough for hunting, and finally which I still need to zero is a compact fixed 4x that is only about 6" long.... It feels right....I think lol
