Yes,surprisingly enough,scoping it does require a high mount to clear the bolt movement.I really would like to use this one without a scope,because it carries a lot nicer but my eyes just don't work with iron sights anymore ,even a ghost ring isn't as good as a scope and I can't get around that.Funny when you get older and can afford what you want-you can't shoot it.
Since this will be a casual plinking/small game rifle,I'll probably opt for the same scope on my regular length JW15,a Bushnell dusk to dawn fixed 4x shotgun/rimfire scope,the circle reticule is ideal for small game,it fits a rabbit head perfectly and the heavier outer crosshairs is ideal for shooting in the brush.50 yard parallax too.
Another thing I noticed between shooting the long barrel version of the JW15 and the short barrelled version is the sound is appreciably louder in the short barrel,even when using 'quiet' 22 shells.
