I've been kicking myself for selling mine so I pounced when I saw one locally for $189. Topped it with a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 rimfire scope. Ordered another cheek riser to replicate the setup I had.
Things are only "a raging pile of S###" when they have barrels over 20". Once you turn it into a carBEAN, they instantly become "the coolest thing ever!!"
Not bad at all for $180. I wish I would brought the mini mags with me as the std velocity was dropping a lot (10" or so) at 100 yards. I tried some other bulk pack Winchester hyper velocity stuff and it was much les accurate.
Scope is a cabelas brand 2-7x32. Has a basic velcro cheek pad.
Overall, I concur with the author of this thread. Not a steaming pile of sh!t at all. I'm actually rather impressed.
Edit: Only issue I had was once in a whil one of the Winchester Wildcats would stove pipe. The CCI or the silver bulk pack Winchester didn't do it. I put it up to possibly some sort of case live sticking. Or just that the ammo is 5+ years old.
^^^^ that's pretty goddamn good at 100yards with these stumpy little things!
I find mine shoots the cheapest ammo the best at this point.... Which is fine with me, save the RWS for the target rifles!
Likes Win bulk 333/555 whatever that stuff is.
Ok, now I'm keen on digging mine up from between the floorboards and taking it out to play with again... Fun little gun, it just fell out of the rotation.
I've been shooting mine out to about 50yrds with bulk ammo and getting good results. Never thought the stubby barrel could shoot fairly decent groups at 100yrds!
I'll have to mount more scope and giver a try….
The only 'con' is its louder than a regular length barrel.....not an issue unless you are dispatching critters where you would just as rather not advertise it....even with 'quiet' 22 shells. I use my 26'' barrel for urban shooting ( like coons getting after my chickens).Other than that, they just about the handiest little .22 you can get. Ideal for a truck gun,or on the quad, and being a synthetic stock, you don't have to worry about messing it up.

Just doing some work on my jw15a-13, does anyone know how to remove the sights from it? I'm more interested in removing the rear sight than the front hooded sight.
