Having gotten pretty tired of staring at the ugly visage of my JW25A, I decided that it needed a make over. I stripped off that toxic paste crap varnish stuff that the Chinese slathered all over the wood (I used Circa 1850 stripper). Then I sanded the last of the remaining stain out and got the stock butter smooth with 0000 steel wool. Now, time to break out the Tru-Oil. After each coat, I waited till it dried and then hit it with a tack cloth and some 0000 steel wool. After 5 coats, here is what that Norinco looks like. There is actually some nice grain under that sludge that the Golden Arrow Brand Zhongzou Machinery Factory workers slaps on...

Scopemount is intended for an airgun. It is a see thru unit that also allows me to use the iron sights. The bolt handle clears my little 4x20 scope by about 2mm. The JW25a is a nice shooting iron. Yesterday I was fine tuning the scope at 25 years and it was shooting Federal Bulk pack and CCI minimags into 1/2" groups edge to edge. I was fairly impressed as the rifle cost me a mere 99 dollars, scopemount was 17 bucks and the scope was one I picked up with some other parts (just a cheap Chinese scope, has decent optics).

Its a Chinese mount I bought it off Ebay, from a Ebay store called Vector Optics. Cost me just under 18 bucks delivered. If the Gamo dovetail mount is 35mm high, it should clear a small fixed power scope.
