Just in case - please check your operating rod - the flat bit of the bolt mechanism that has the knobs on it - is NOT phosphated. These op rods had a habit of cracking in the sharp angle where the lug engages in the inner bolt cam track. This is a known problem that ONLY occurred in 1944 due to a shortage of chrome. 99.99% have been changed over the years after the usual armoury visits, but.................................Since you don't show us the left-hand side of the action we have no way of knowing if your K31 went for a refurb at any time after that - the last two digits of the year stamped somewhere on the action, even on the tank.

The op rod is blued so I guess iam in the clear, But according the K31 info that the top of the milsurp secion it tells me mine is from 1943 as the serial # starts with 738
