K98 Sniper Clone, Looking for build advice!

thats why its so much easier to do a short side rail or long side rail .
turret mounts fitting the bases to the rifle with the rings lined up to the bore , pain in the
then fitting the scope rings to the scope tube . pain in the
dismantling the scope to solder the rings on . pain it the
soldering the tube to the rings with the right length eye relief and everything lined up square.
reassembling the scope pain in the

SSR mounts were designed for a rounded/standard receiver. LSR mounts were designed for a thick walled receiver that was milled flat. They do have adapters out there and they are usually included with repro mounts.
 
Don't know if it's already been mentioned, but Mike Venturino has done several articles on K98 Mauser sniper rifles - including one in the March 2014 issue of "Rifle" magazine entitled:

"Resurrecting a German Sniper Rifle".
