k98 trade for rem 770 308

I just traded a fairly beat up 8mm mauser for a brand new remmington 770 in .308. I've used 308s in the past and love the cartridge. Any thoughts?

.308, that's good. Many 710s and 770s work well enough, but they do have a rather high rate of defects reported for a rifle from a such a well-established maker as Remington. For the money, there are a few options that are distinctly better, and your 770 is very unlikely to hold its value.

However beaten up your K98 was, I personally would have kept it. Hope you end up more pleased with this trade than I would have been in your place.
