KAC Upper Assembly

From what I gather from that it is KAC who has decided not to sell SBR to anyone but LE and MIL.
You can't have SBR in the states unless it is on a registered lower and you have to register them with the ATF. You also have to pay a tax stamp too. US State Dept. won't issued export licenses on anything under 16".

Horse####....all the 10", 11.5", 14.5" barrels in Canada are not just magically appearing in the shops up here, they're imported. KAC could export units if they wanted. They may have to ship the barrels separately, but it can be done.

You have the man in charge telling you it won't be done...

Short Barrel Uppers are only sold to LE/MIL Organizations.
Unless your Travis Halley, Christ Costa, Jerry Barnhardt, or Big Red ;)

Are we even allowed to buy uppers and swap them out up here in Canada? Wouldn't going from say a 16 or 14.5 inch upper to a 11.5 or 10.5 inch upper be deemed a reclassification?

How does that change the class of the firearm? An AR is a restricted rifle regardless of how long the barrel is. If you put a crossbow upper on it, the thing is still classed as a restricted rifle.

Swapping out uppers is common and easy to do and a completely moot point when discussing the classification of the resulting firearm.

I had an AR15 reclassified for multiple barrels lengths (11.5 14.5 16), the registration they sent me was for the shorter version only.

It does not change the classification of the rifle since it's restricted at any length.

Anybody want an Armalite 16" ?????????

Still waiting to hear back from KAC on some pricing.

I need that to complete the purchase order, which gets sent to State Dept.

The point needed to be understood is there are two different entities here. KMC (Knight's Manufacturing Company) and KAC (Knight's Armament Company).
KAC is a FFL/SOT Manufacturer - we do the Short Barrel Guns (generally Select Fire 'Machine Guns') suppressors, plus Military Contract weapons via KAC.
Civilian sale weapons are done by KMC, which is a FFL Manufacturer - but not SOT.

KAC generally (outside suppressors) does not sell items for civilian sale.

We could sell KAC SBR's (<16" Semi-Auto Short Barrel Rifles) for commercial resale, and have been looking at doing so, however we are not doing it currently.

Thank you Kevin for the quick response. It is good to hear that you are looking at doing this. I am sure even if we can't get them up here currently due to the current US DOS regs that your American customers would love the Short barreled rifles/uppers.

Paperwork issues. Still working on it.

Firearms business lic. is underway so complete rifles should hopefully be on the way in the next little bit.
