clip, magazine or detachable box magazine. the minute he said spring, we all knew what he was talking about. so is your motor getting good gas mileage or your engine?

So basicaly by Canadian law you have a metal club instead of something to defend yourself?
noone was flaming him until you came along.
Personally I keep a loaded clip outside my safe, seconds count in an emergency situation and the less crap you have to pull out of the safe the better. Legality dosent matter if your dead.
"...no storage rules for ammunition..." Yep. Locked up.
"...not sure if storing a full mag would do anything..." Nope. Springs do not lose temper from being compressed. Long term, repeated, use can work harden the bends of a flat spring though.
"...instead of something to defend yourself?..." Pretty much. Metal clubs like morning stars(as are blow guns, shuriken and nunchuks) are prohibited too. Been that way since 1978. Never have been able to figure that one out. Best guess is too many Medieval, ninja, pygmies holding up variety stores.
Being tried by 12 is extremely expensive.
"...motor getting good gas mileage or your engine..." Bad analogy. Clips are not magazines. Clips fill magazines.
What ever did you do before for personal safety? You are less likely to go to prison if you just beat the intruder with a bat! just make sure you have a ball and glove to with it.
I just took the CFSC and challanged the restricted like, 5 days ago, I asked my instructor the very same question, it is ILLEGAL to store a loaded magazine with your pistol, or rifle, you can have ammunition in a safe or lock box with your Pistol or Rifle, but to have the cartridges loaded in the magazine makes it a loaded firearm, according to my intructor, and I trust his credentials so, theres my two cents if anyone cares
Oh and it certainly wouldn't hurt the spring!
actually your instructor is smoking crack and should clean his pipe out , a loaded magazine does not constitute a loaded weapon , it is only loaded once it is placed inside the firearm ..
