I found when putting a pair of latex disposable gloves under thin pair of gloves really keeps your hands warm. Also, using the same disposable latex gloves under your everyday leather working gloves also keeps your hands warm in the cold weather. Even just using these thin disposable latex gloves alone, also keep your hands warm in the cold and snow :)

I still like pile lined leather mitts for really cold weather :) In fact, we just bought new ones last week and a good thing too as it's been -42C just before sunrise the last few mornings ;)

I used up to 3 layers when the weather got cold, hunting south of Moose Jaw.

When the weather was reasonably nice, either a set of surplus flying gloves, or rag-wool knuckle dragger type gloves, with the fold over mitt end. When the weather was a bunch colder, I had a set of wool combat glove liners, basically a tight-knit wool glove, that I would wear under a set of the rag-wool gloves.

When it got below about -20c and the wind started blowing, I had a set of wool lined leather mitts, that I wore over the combat glove/rag-wool mitts. I would generally keep the mitt on the left hand, and the right one was tucked into the pocket of my coveralls, so I could pull my hand out and use the trigger with a warm hand.

My hands would be wet and cold, if I wore a set of latex gloves. Ugh!

Nevr been bothered by a bit of blood on my hands, and when it was cold, the carcass and guts were warm, at least for the time that I had the gloves off.

Cheers

What I find interesting is that I rarily sweat in cold weather, and therefore my fingers do not sweat, even with the disposable latex gloves on, and thus, the latex gloves helps to keep my fingers warm in cold weather :)

When I wear latex gloves in warm weather, my fingers will sweat.

Latex gloves are really cheap and they work for a myriad of tasks. They're great--it's just that I feel like such a pansy putting them on.
Real Men only need leather choppers with maybe some wool liners and then only beyond -40.

its always good to keep your hands warm out hunting. if your hands get super cold once. it seems that its much easyer for them to get cold after that. my hands never used to get cold. now just sitting in my living room my hands are turning purple (its set to about 15-20 C in here at the moment. maybe a little less).

generaly when im hunting i wear a pair of Walmart's "hunting gloves" just flease gloves they seem to work. but if i sit doing nothing for to long then they start getting cold. my typical winter gloves. are snowmobile mits rated for -60. they are about an inch thick, gauntlets that come up to my elbows with a nose wiper pad on the back of the hand :) cant blow your nose when its cold. so you gotta wipe it somewhere :)

I have a set of caribou mitts with wool liner. Fantastic.

I just got James a pair of large moose hide mitts with polar fleece inserts. I think his are even warmer.

But then again, he goes thru "hot hands" like they are goin out of style.
