I don't think that Keltec would have to modify this at all for the US DOS to allow export so there should not be the big difference in price like there was with the SUB2000 and RFB so we should get them near the US retail price at least one would think that.

dont wanna rain on your parade but the importers will have a good excuse to add a few hundred extra to the price, remember the old excuses when it was our dollar is so much lower(i cant see that having to mark barrels and make chambers to 308 spec justifies the added price of the rfb)

PREVIEW: Kel-Tec Shotgun (KSG)

01-04-2011
The time for secrecy is nearing its end. This SHOT Show, Kel-Tec will be revealing its next ground-breaking product: the KSG (Kel-Tec Shotgun).

The KSG is our first entry into the shotgun market. The size, shape and design are similar to the currently available Kel-Tec RFB rifle, but the KSG ejects downward, instead of forward. The KSG weighs 6.9lbs and is as compact as legally possible with a 26.1" overall length and an 18.5" cylinder bore barrel. Even with this compact size, the internal dual tube magazines hold an impressive 14 rounds of 12 gage 2-3/4" rounds (7 per tube). The simple and reliable pump action feeds from either the left or right tube. The feed side is manually selected by a lever located behind the trigger guard. The lever can be positioned in the center detent in order to easily clear the chamber without feeding another round from either magazine. A cross bolt style safety blocks the sear, and the pump release lever is located in front of the trigger guard.

The pump includes an under Picatinny rail for the mounting of a forward grip, or a light or laser. The included top Picatinny sight rail will accept many types of optics or iron sights. Forward and rear sling loops are built in, and a basic sling is included. The soft rubber butt pad helps to tame recoil.

MSRP has not been officially been set, but we are looking at the $800.00 range.

Why does this come up in every thread??? It must be gouging when a manufacturer and importer and dealers work together to get rifles into the country for us to buy, do special tooling/machining (off assembly line work), work with the feds on both sides, do the paper work, ship and god forbid make a profit and a living like the rest of us...

We have the choice of NOT buying it if we think it is overpriced... if they are inflated, the prices will fall with lack of sales... if they are not inflated, then no one will make the effort to import the cool specialty products anymore.

Have had enough beer for one night... goodbye.

Been thinking about this one since coming across this thread yesterday...

Judging by the size of my boner right now, and assuming that there are many million boners like it in the US waiting for this thing, I highly doubt we'd see it in the next 12-20 months based alone on US demand vs how fast KelTec can bang them out. Canada is typically far from a priority as far as new US guns go.

That is of course, assuming that they DO make it into the country lol.

I sure hope they do! :D

I agree, but look at it this way, demand is still high for the RFB down there, and vault brought some of those in. Now that he's set up, maybe it won't be too long for these beauties to make it up here in limited numbers. Maybe 12 months?

I read on ktog that keltec hopes to begin shipping after SHOT. Who knows?

Is Kel-Tec a good gun manufacturer?

No really a renowned gun maker, their previous product line was aimed at cheap guns, AFAIK!

The current offerings seem to indicate some serious willingness to play with the big boys, so far the major advantage for Kel-Tec is their innovation, with the RFB & SUB2000 trickling out reviews will show if quality is also up!

added: Wiki says they are the third largest US handgun maker.

Actually the demand of firearms down in the US has been dwindling and slowing down - distributors and retailers are not so keen on stocking high priced firearms.

Steyr has stopped AUG production - they could not get rid of all the 3000 rifles they have made since the beginning of the year. Distributors and retailers are reluntant to stock high prices firearms -that's why MSAR had been in a bit of difficulties. Bushmaster's facility is essentially removed becasue I bet ACRs are not really moving as fast as they expect. Daniel Defence was caught by cash flow problem late last year and they had to have a short shut down.

In case you have not noticed, US manufacturers started warming up to the CDN market at the end of 2009 because they need to sell as many as possible to cover overhead.

The military dollar is going to be shrinking really fast in the next few years - that's why KAC, FN and HK start hedging on the civilian market to diversify.

Well put........
Also keeping in mind that the Canadian consumer economy (when compared to the overall US) is moving at a much better pace today; opportunities abound for some US companies to move more product by establishing markets up here where demand and dollars are available.

it could be potentially less, as stated before someone expected MSRP to be half of the RFB, but the Canadian RFB had to undergo modifications before they could export. Thats where our inflated price comes from. It doesnt seem like this one would need much, if any modifications and if thats true it should come in at a comfortable sub-$1000 price point. Very exciting indeed. Did anyone find out the weight?
