Anyone know anything about this rifle? What is it? Non-restricted? Restricted? Prohibited? Or is it just a piece of junk?
It even has a pistol version of it that I thought would be nice for the 10 rounders! Thought that it would be a good gopher gun.

This got kicked around a while back. Unless things have changed, the mfr. wasn't looking for export business. The US State Dept. has tightened up on granting export licences.
IF the barrel is 19", and IF they could be exported, I am sure they would sell here.
CanAm - if your life needs even more complications, this could be a project for you.

Where is the 19" coming from?

It was listed as 18.4 and talks between myself and George Kellgren saw the change to 18.5" (470.1) to be non-restricted, I still see it as 18.5" (and the added text on how this was measured which should have suited CDN purposes). We then took it to the RCMP, who declared it to still be restricted due to the barrel extension not counting and they wouldn't budge.

We then tried as restricted then, and the US DOS then refused the export license due to the ability to break down the rifle (even though it can't be fired collapsed), AND the 556 chamber and markings.

In the end, it was a LOT of work, and a couple of trips, for naught.

Well, there you go - all it would take is a new specially made barrel, longer, with a SAAMI .223 chamber, and a redeisgn so that it would disassemble, but not fold.;)
I suspect that there might still be obstacles.
I wonder what the potential Cdn market would be? Any chance that it would be large enough to justify the changes?
Then again, if there is a new, improved AWB in the US, it could well be academic. There might not be a US market.

Kel-tech can't keep up with US demand, months and months of backorders on orders that are good to go without changes for domestic sale. To their credit they already did put a good deal of time and effort into (unsuccessfully) reworking things to be non-restricted in Canada. The final deal killer is the redesign regarding the break-down stock. The redesign that could be done was declared to be not a permanent fix for DOS export purposes. They can't redesign the whole receiver, particularly when they're selling every single one they can make, months ahead of time, in the USA.

They were actually ready to do an upgraded version (less plastic bits, more steel) for us before the DOS stopped issuing the permits. :(

Maybe a stupid question, but with some of these firearms that the US won't allow export couldn't they be manufactured here in Canada? Or at least ship up the parts they can export and build the remaining ones the US has a problem allowing us dangerous Canadians to have.

I'm sure there's a good reason that won't work but i just don't know what that is.

That's really too bad. I think that the rifles would have sold well.
