Kel-Tec SU-16F

if they're legal i was just gonna get it shipped to my PO box in the states or a shipping depot. its only 80 bucks so it doesn't fall under ITAR. im mostly concerned with the fact that its fully operational while folded. but if its over 26" while folded i think im sold.

Is the SU16 still non-restricted with the charlie stock installed?
Should be fine, the SU16C is 25.5" OAL when folded with a 16" barrel.
Seeing how the Canadian version has the 18.5" barrel, the over all length when folded should be over the magically 26" number, making it non-restricted.

I never seen one in Canada yet though.

Sounds about right, I'm pretty sure the fact that it can fire with the stock folded only matters if it's below 26". If only the states were as liberal with what they allow exported to Canada as they are with what high-end weapons they sell to the middle east <: \

Looks like Vault Distribution is the only ones in Canada who Kel Tec will ship to.

Can you get your wrist slapped if you ship it to a US address and ship it to yourself here?

My reaction to the Charlie stock (if the stock was a pony's mane).

pretty sure sure youre in the clear to ship the stock since it is under $100. ive brought back a few items and never had any hassle.

I think I'll wait. Don't want to be the first one to try my luck, only to have the RCMP spontaneously declare them a prohibited device.

I like my su16f, with the right ammo it will group 1" off a bench. The bipod is a little flimsy and i may replace the forend for something solid. I need a different scope as well, a regular 3x9 needs to be removed when taking the firearm apart for cleaning. No feedig or extraction problems so far in about 300 roiunds.

saw one the other day in Calgary at the Calgary Shooting center- love mine- bought it as a stash in PVC tube for the appocalypse (lol) Thought I should see if it worked at the range and fell in love, so have not hidden it away---Put a red dot on it and watching this thread to figure a way to change from the integral front bi pod to a more appealing look.

Thought I'd revive this thread with some feedback. I bought one of these on the EE a while back, traded for it actually. It had a defective bolt in that it had an oversize firing pin hole and was experiencing pierced primers. Little discs of primer material were entering the bolt and very quickly jammed the firing pin and extractor. Vault was very helpful and sent out a new bolt assembly and firing pin and all is good. I bought some magpul furniture for it, pistol grip and adjustable stock which I like. I also did a little trigger work and wound up with a very nice trigger compared to anything else milsurp or close. I have a Mueller Tac-II on it now and will be working up some loads for it. This rifle appears to be accurate so far with bulk ammo and hopefully will be even better with reloads and a good scope. I think it would make for a good coyote/varmint rifle. I took the iron sights off this rifle and it would be great if there was a flash hider available for this model that just slipped on and bolted down like the front sight did. There is enough flash seen through a scope to be annoying, at the range at least. Anyone threaded their barrel for one or had a bolt-on made?

Is that a flash hider or a break. I would like some details on that. Thanks for posting.
it's a Flash hider/Muzzle brake combo, got it at Ironeagle tactical. I had a gunsmith bore out the flash hider so that it would fit over the muzzle. He had a piece of steel rod exact same size as barrel . That he used as a replica,he bored out flash hider just enough that he had to use heat to slide it on the barrel.he also drilled three holes and used set screws, and locktite.the flash hider has an 1/8 inch protruded ridge on it,so if you bore it out enough, the flash hider covers the raised ridge that is on the tip of the barrel. It took about a hour or 2. After 500 rnds it's very solid.

How far does the barrel protrude into the vented area? I'm surprised they shipped that out of the U.S. I wonder if it might be better to just thread the end of the barrel for one of these? Were you able to notice a reduction in flash?

The flash Hyder is 3 1/2 inches long, The barrel inserts into that first vent hole ,which is 1 3/4 inches.ironeagle ships Su16 mods made by Red Lion precision. Can't get a trigger or stock though ( they are not allowed to ship those two items). Because the barrel is permanently attached to receiver my gunsmith couldn't fit it in his lathe so we went this way. I don't see any flash, so I can't answer that question. It covers the raised ring on barrel and it only adds about 1 1/2 overall length to barrel. I've fired 100 rnds fairl fast and got the barrel really hot and the flash hider didn't budge. I like it this way but it's not for everyone, I'm sure it would have to be done perfect for it to work.
