KEL-TEC SU16 Question...

There's a two inch difference in the length of the unfolded su-16c and su-16f and the barrel on the su-16c is 2.5 inches shorter than the barrel on the su-16f so hopefully if you added the C stock to your F model the barrel difference would make the gun measure OVER 26" but then you have to look at the fold point on both stocks, if you notice the C model folds further away from the action....

I'm sorry I didn't do more research sun and steel, it was 2:30am and I had a bottle of wine keeping me warm last night, to be honest the extent of my legal knowledge I have picked up from these boards, again my apologies, I was/am just excited to talk about these neat guns! :(
 
Kel-tec's website shows that the SU-16C with it's 16" barrel is 25.5" OAL when folded.
So the SU16F with it's 18.5" barrel should be 28" when folded with a C style stock.

Shouldn't be any legal issues with installing and using a C style stock.

I can handle someone who just made a mistake, hell I even thought I was wrong once, but it turned out I was mistaken! :D

Bit of thread necromancy here, sorry...

I'm VERY interested in the OAL of an SU-16C stock mounted on an SU-16F. From what I measure, the length of the rifle would certainly be more than 26" as the folding point of the stock is well behind the rear of the upper receiver, which is almost precisely 26".

Anyways, please forgive my ignorance; I'm new to firearm ownership and restricted / non-restricted laws... Is a semi-auto centre fire rifle restricted if the stock folds and is capable of firing EVEN IF it is still over 26" folded? Because this would be an epic combo if it's still non-restricted and over 26". Anybody got any knowledge / perspective on this?

Would an SU-16C type stock be legal to import? Say by driving down to the 'States and picking one up, or through irunguns.ca or something?

As said already in this thread, the charlie stock is legal, and some are in Canada already(seriously did you read the thread?). The rifle would be over 26" when folded, so non-restricted.

Yeah, I did read the thread, thank you - you were most helpful in particular there, Lone Wolf. In fact, the measurement photo I posted just added credence to what you were saying - so I guess you're welcome. No need to thank me though, I'm just a helpful, good natured guy like that. Anyways, I still felt justified in asking the question since the issue on whether or not folding rifles were NR or prohibited still seemed a little vague to me. After all, the RCMP website says...

That's pretty vague I'm sure we all agree. I was only asking whether the RCMP had come down on this one harshly or not, particularly given that there had been almost a year since the last update to this thread. Things can change, right? I'm new after all, I haven't owned a firearm for over 20+ years, well before the LGR - I got my first new one just a few months ago and I'm not well versed in all the industry / legal arcana.
 
I just ordered one from Kel tec and received the Charlie folding stock before the New Year. I was initially skeptical as I am afraid that it might get seized by US/Canadian Border Customs, but I luckily got it without any issues.

Stocks can be considered ITAR controlled items by customs. As a rule Canada customs done care as long as it isn't a bullpup stock. The fold or not fold is not an issue as long as the OAL of the firearm is not under 26" when folded.
