Kel-tec SU16

It can always be folded but with the pistol grip it can't be fully folder. Into a "V" shape at best. The trigger guard fold into the magwell with the factory stock so it fold completely in half and will store in a tennis racket bag. With the pistol grip, the grip interferes with the magwell so it fold into a v but can still be put into a large back pack.

They are stamped .223 as per Canadain regulations. Kel Tec only makes one chamber which is 5.56 but they can't be stamped 5.56 for Canada. I assume you're asking that question so you can find out if you can use either 5.56 or .223 in it??

well i mounted a leupold vx I 2-7x33 on my su16 and took her out to the range for the first time today :)

i kept trying to go for accuracy over speed, but unfortunately lost out to speed and ended up fast blasting 95% of the time, but i still managed to keep the 10 round groups around 3 to 4" or so at 100m :)

1 thing i noticed compared to my old XCR was the recoil impulse, the XCR would ping and i could feel the piston cycling whereas with the su16 it was a much nicer feel, it that makes any sense

i shot about 100 rounds of american eagle 55 gr fmj, and had 1 FTF, but i think it was because i rode the bolt closed instead of letting it go on inertia.

i can't wait to mount up my vx3 4.5-14 and try out some 69 gr sierra handloads :)

well my ar stock kit showed up today , and in my hurry to get it installed, my punch slipped and took out the threads on one side of the dual screwed pin :(

does anyone know if any canadian dealers carry replacement parts like that or do i have to order it from keltec ?

thanks

Ahhhhhh good to know. Did you happen to do the quick pin for it or are you still using the supplied pin??

I am using the supplied one. I couldn't figure out how to remove it and since then have no real problem pulling it out and smashing it in. The first time, though, I had to use a rubber mallet.

Just for yucks, how do you remove the supplied pin?

btw, I have a different AR stock with buffer tube coming to me from Questar. They screwed up my order but hopefully it comes to me in the next week.

oh that sucks. I would call the dealer you bought it from first and then if they have no idea ask Vault Distribution. I know what you mean about making that mistake. I had some trouble figuring out the instructions myself.

I guess this would be the wrong time to tell you how to do a trigger job on it.
As for the f'up talk to the retail location that sold you the rifle and get them to get you a replacment part.
Vault for the mark-up they are charging us should have ample spare parts lying around for the entire Keltec line-up but they are so lazy the lack the forsight to keep any parts for the Keltec line in stock. So you will have to wait for Ketec to ship it to them before shipping it to you. Or you could always call Keltec direct and see if they can help you as many other people have done in the past. Actually they have great customer service and do go out of there way to make there customers happy. Unlike there distributor.

Personally ? :yingyang:

A rubber mallet and an Allen key....:p

i ended up sending an email to keltec anyways, so hopefully it doesn't take to long to get here from the state's :(

i'm tempted to try and tap it, but seeing as i don't own a tap set, that could be a pricey fix :(

i'm gonna run to can-tire and see if they carry small tap and die kits, god knows it's not the first fastener i've damaged and won't be the last

otherwise this ar stock is sweet, nice and solid with perfect eye alignment :)

not a fan of our vault distributing overlords?
monopolies always make my stomach upset.

sweet, a light touch with a #8-32 die and she's set :)

damaged threads : $0

tap & die set : $40

doing your manly duty and fixing something that was broken : priceless

remembering you made it not work in the first place : moot :)

Almost the same as Satain. A rubber mallet and a drift punch of the right diameter. For some reason the pin that came with the AR adapter kit fits quite tight. Atleast I know it won't ever fly out!!

I think I've settled on using the MagPul PRS stock from now on. I think I'll put the UBR on my CZ.

I had the primer punching issue with winchester 55gr ammo. i bought a crate of 55gr american eagle and the problem stopped. Out of 400ish rounds of it no failures at all. Unfortunately the winchester primers caused some damage to the firing pin when it plugged up the bolt. Im thinking of trying to order a new one but i dont really care that much and it works fine now.

I put a burris ar 332 on it after disliking my bushnell reddot model: POS. Im worried about the plastic scope rail too. Seems to be fine so far.

Id like to find a flash reducer for this thing. It really needs one. It seems louder then other 223s too.

Actually i have another point that is probably more important to me then the other stuff. I dont like the trigger. Like at all. The ar stock and the normal stock have to same one. Im using the ar stock. I plan to investigate trigger jobs for the su16. The ribbing needs some sanding or something.

Other than the stuff i mentioned, the rifle works and is moderate to high on the fun scale. Which is good.

Trigger jobs are easilly done as are getting completely different triggers. Have you found your way to the KTOG forum?? They have the complete how-to and what to do for the trigger job. Maybe I'll cut and paste it into here.
