Kel-tec SU16

Thanks for being understanding DougPeach.
I do not mean to talk down to you, or single you out. Just I have followed the su16 from the beginning, and listened to a few dealers explaining more than once it's not their fault, but US export laws that prevent them from having the same configurations brought in as the Americans can get.
Our laws are complicated by themselves, and throw in some weird US export laws and it gets even crazier.

The ruger gunsite scout rifle, a bolt action, was exported without the barrel threading & flash hider that the US rifle has.
I don't know who makes the export laws there, but they are crazy.
Apparently they must think only American gunsmiths can thread a barrel or install a flash hider???

I'm always understanding in my flame suit *removes helmet*
What right do I have to be otherwise if I don't fully understand :)

Got mine today, reminds me of my PC4. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!
Any heads up on a sling?
I seen where someone had a pull pin made, where can I get one?
Other then that, don't change a thing.

Is there a fix for this? I was have the same issue, but i switched to a different ammo brand which stopped that issue. Now the cases seem to be expanding a little bit more then id like.

Hmm interesting

Calgary Shooting Centre was kind enough to contact Kel Tec and replace the firing pin spring and bolt carrier (the original one had an extra wide hole for the firing pin and hence the primers ended up in it). I have since then put 200 rounds through it and it works just fine! I'm happy with my purchase and what this rifle brings to the table with its price point.

Tale the frt site off and go with some MBUS instead.

I really like the folding stock and think I get the skelton version, I just wanted anothger check that they are good to go up here. My pistol grip should be delivered shortly and I got my redfield 3x9 AR scope zeroed in today :)

Reading the below posts got me a little confused

A non restricted rifle has 2 main characteristics that make it non restricted. The barrel has to be more than 18.5" and the over all length has to be 660mm if stock is folded or it has to be unable to fire in a folded position. When the factory stock is folded, the SU would be of restricted length but it can't be fired so it's all good. My rifle with the stock folded is still 720mm.

Thanks P@rick Your a great help.

I assumed with the pistol grip it could be fired, so I guess we have the top two characteristics covered...Barrel and OAL

Cheers

Soooo... I took out my SU last night to give it a clean. First time I've looked at it since I shot last weekend and I noticed this boo boo.

At first I was wondering why my stock wouldn't lock and then grrr, what the hell?

Well I sent off an email to Frontier but they are closed today. I'm assuming warranty will cover it.

Tried searching, but it didn't come up with anything and I'm too lazy to read the thread.

Which version of the SU16 is non restricted; there are several version on their website.

Warranty should def cover it.

The gun is the SU-16A, but as it ships to Canada with our stupid 5 round mags they re-named it the SU-16F. Think of it as the SU-16F package that contains a SU-16A rifle.

Thanks to Alan Rock for the little mags. I guess if he has a little ##### we all have to suffer little mags.

If I ever find a lamp with a genie in it it would be hard not to wish to see King Kong use Alan Rock as a Fleshlight. With Wendy as the condom. And broken glass and vinegar as the lube.
It actually has not to do with the mag. The Canadian version gets a non-restricted barrel length of 18.5" as opposed to the shorter barrel of the US version and it's also marked .223 not 5.56 as per Canadian regs.
