Kel Tec SU16F review

Well if the compact fore-end was supposed to add lights and grips, its rather small I found and putting a light on it meant your hand was stuck holding half the for-end and/or half the uncomfortable wing just in front of the magwell.

So I found a way to add more grip space.

The AFG-1 fills this void with a light perfectly, a light will be on the first groove, the afg1 on the last groove possible. AFG2 is a little smaller, which we don't want in this case as it wont fill that void as much.

However, I now have no room for a front sling mount.

I want one of those AR adapters. I'm not getting a good grip on the original stock, maybe it just needs to be lengthened.

Was like 6" low at 100yds, and at it's adjustment limit. The scope pictured above. Worked good on the .308 I removed it from though :bangHead:
I really should buy some rings for the falcon scope.

Sorry to hear !...:(

I thought you were being sarcastic or such when you said the falcon 1.5-5x wasn't up to the job  , largely because the only scopes I've had "run out of adjustment" to date were (a) an NcStar 4x compact atop an SKS ;) , and (b) a large & clunky [very] old Weaver 4x atop an offset Cooey scope mount...:yingyang:

Now you've got me double-thinking the NcStar 3-9x42 compact I have en route for the Su-16 !

So, I just placed an order for the SU-16 forend from Red Lion and this was their response:

"Thank you for your interest in our products. Unfortunately, we cannot ship to Canada because of ITAR. Perhaps we can find a Canadian distributor in the future but as of now it is not cost effective as export/import paperwork costs are extremely high. We will put you on the list of Canadian customers to contact if we do find someone. If you have any questions feel free to contact us."

I'm having them ship to my US address, however curious as to the ITAR rules and costs associated with the forend; and why no distributor in Canada has made the deal with Red Lion?

illumined, you might want to clean up your post and re-think your plan...

Exporting a controlled item from the US without prior is a big no-no. You'd be surprise at the trouble the ATF can generate...

Just saying.

I'm still "surprised" at just how evasive they can be when it comes to asking them if an antique firearm is just what their website says it is.....;)

Cheap ass nightforce scope isn't up to the job. I'm sure the falcon will be fine.

Wolverine has said they're looking into dealing with red lion.

So now that people have had their SU16's for a couple weeks what are your thoughts? Were they worth the wait? Are you happy with price, fit & finish? What accessories do you like?

Agreed, this thread sure got quiet in the last couple weeks.

Thanks guys

Still didn't properly setup a scope on it yet to determine accuracy.
Pros,
LAR15 magazines working great
Stock iron sights are peeps
rapid fire is easy and accurate enough

Cons,
Not a fan of the forend
the original stock is feeling awkward at times when settling into a shooting position
rear sight is weird to adjust

Will hopefully take a coyote with it this season.

I got a Vltor handguard that I am going to try to mod to work to solve the handguard issue and the iron crappy sight's.
Hopfully...
As for the stock once I swaped out for the AR style 1 & did a trigger job I am now loving it.
More to come once the handgaurd set arrives.

Haven't really aired it out yet but I'm still very pleased with this purchase. No regrets. Still trying to decide on an optic though.

I'd like to try shooting one of these rifles, very interested in buying one after christmas..
If any Keltec Owners out there happen to go to the same range as me in Abbotsford, and would'nt mind showing it off to a very interested party, PM me - I'll buy the ammo :)
Cheers!
