Kel Tec SU16F review

I am extremely intrigued if you have gotten the barrel free floated. Go tell NEA how you done it and get them to make some.
Every time I tell a manufactor that I have a great idea about something I get the same face every time.

Although if some one like that was to ask I would be more than willing to tell them how I did it.

so my first 100 rounds were of winchester 55gr fmj. i had massive problems with it. i would get a nice cloud of white smoke from the chamber every now and then and i would get this:

(primer "anvil" thingy protruding out of the primer) and i had this many out of the 89
IMAG0236.jpg

about 20 out of 89. (critical stoppage with 11 rounds left in one box). i also had one lightly struck.

i ended up getting the parts of the primers that ripped off lodged inside the bolt where the firing pin sits. the firing pin got stuck pretty good and i ended up damaging the end of it a bit trying to get it out, but i stopped myself before i did any more damage and took the bolt carrier over to pandd where i got it and george i think was his name managed to get it unstuck without too much more damage. the bolt face firing pin hole is a bit messed up but everything seems OK just looks cosmetically bad.

i burned a ton of cash buying some federal american eagle ammo instead. took it to the range and fired off 50 rounds without a hiccup.

so... su-16f does not like winchester .223 55gr fmj. i wonder how picky it is with actual 5.56.

That's saddening...:(....I use a lot of Winchester 55-grain white box  , and your report was rather disheartening to read.....

Not that I'm doubting your experiences at all :yingyang: , but this is the first I've heard of an SU-16 "bobble" with the Winchester white-box ?...

Bile

I have put 200 rounds of winchester 55gr white box and not had a single problem with my su-16, will have to try 100 more this weekend to make sure everything is ok.

Hmmmm I think I fired some winchester fmj through mine. Hard to say I had a bunch of different .223 fmj to shoot.

I know .223 JHP 40rd boxes of winchester shot without issue, as for accuracy with the round, my scope was out of whack so I cannot comment.

Im thinking it was a bad batch. The first 20 rounds of the winchester were fine but the other 4 boxes had issues. Its not exactly match ammo. Ill have to do more testing but maybe the gun itself was out of spec. Maybe it was just bad primers on the rounds. I picked winchester first because i shoot 9mm winchester and that has been zero failures over 300 rounds of the 9mm. Who knows. Ill try to ask kel tec what they think if i get enough time.

Winchester is know for QC issues.
As for my "Ah Ha!" moment it looks like a local manufacture of AR's might be making something for us SU16 folk that just might make this rifle a game changer ;)
P.S. To those who PM'ed me about having it at the pumkin shoot I still hope to bring this rifle up there. Thatz if that company that is not to be named has it ready by then.
Trust me you guyz are going to love it!

So "that" company has the rail you created and is going to whip up some copies of it and should hopefully have yours back so it's at the Pumpkin Shoot this coming saturday??

What time does the Pumpkin Shoot get underway??

Fleshlight

Actually I have a guess but I'll :ninja: for now.
Laugh2
Silveragent had a great idea but SCDL beans makes me very stinky.
