Kel tec sub 2000 Impression

Well what about the Ruger 10/22 take down ? Its only $379 and it Feels a whole lot sturdier. It folds, can hold 25 rounds , its the same idea. I got the chance to handle one a while back and really liked it. The price was very fair I thought. If I was buying a folder back pack gun, it would be the Ruger.

There are several camping .22's that are very good. That's kind of the point. Where can you get that concept in a NR centre fire cartridge? KelTec Sub 2000.

As much as I hate the looks, price(for what it is), plastic, and company, you can't find anything like it, that will go from folded and unloaded to ready to fire in SECONDS. No take down rifles will work as fast.

So, I think I'll be getting one to fit into my backpacking 80L pack, along with about 5 happy sticks. I MUCH prefer the jr carbine, but it's feasibility for a backpacking gun is slim to none.

The Kel Tec's weight is unbeatable for the most part.

Ruger 10/22 takedown in .22LR: 4.67lbs
Kel Tec Sub2000 in 9mm: 4.0lbs

The Sub2000 is still that weight even with a heavier bolt to handle the much higher powered ammo.

The Junior Carbine looks hokey to me. That pistol mag hangin' off it....understand they are good weapons, just look silly to me.

I handled it and it's solid. Feels like an ar with regards to weight. And the fit/finish was good. Agree it looks a little strange with glock mags, but I wouldn't fault it for that.much better than fake mags that are intended to make .22s look like 5.56's. Now that annoys me!

How many times do we need to read this crap?
You don't think it's worth $600? Don't buy one. What else can you buy for hat price that is remotely close to this in function and is non restricted?
Mine has been very reliable. Takes the same mags as my Glock pistol, legally holds 10 rounds in the bush, folds up into a backpack, is accurate. What's not to like?

Do you expect it to be all metal? Do you want it to weigh 8 pounds?
In case you haven't noticed many manufacturers are going to polymers where steel isn't needed for strength. It's called modern manufacturing and doesn't make them cheap, and is why it costs $600 instead of $1000 like it's closest competition.

Want one at US prices? Try importing one then enjoy your restricted rifle that after import fees cost you the same as it would have cost here.

Don't like them? Don't buy one.
If you bought one and don't like it, it's your own fault for buying one without ever handling one. Just sell it on the EE for what you paid and move on.
Quit crying and let the people that do like them enjoy them.

Sounds like your the one crying!

The OP just wanted to share his dissapointment as he had high hopes.

You on the otber hand are taking peoples opinions personally and come across as a butt hurt cry baby mad that someone doesnt like your gun

LOL. thank you.

In Canada they are way overpriced ! Dont really get what you pay for here .. But down south they sell for $350-$400 , Vault does quite the markup here lol Thers no good reason they should be over $500 here ..

I will not buy another keltec again.
Quality is average at best, my su16f receiver is totally not in line with the barrel. cheap plastic rail.
Just my opinion.

I got one off ee for $450 used, which is about what it's worth.

I see all the things to complain about, but it's really the only gun that does what it does, period. So either buy it forthat reason or buy sosomething bigger and better, but there's no real point complaining... It's keltec... You know what you're getting into from square one. I only have it for the non restricted ultra portable factor

Its Krappy... its Kompact... its Keltec! :)

Exactly, Its a non restricted, lightweight, folding, centre fire carbine that takes 10 rnd mags.

Sights are rudimentary, you have to get used to its funny sight picture, and the trigger makes a Glk feel like a jewel.

The clamshell plastic construction is a little sketchy.

My Sig mag has been totally reliable.

For what it is, I really like mine.

I've had a few Keltecs over the tests. SU-16, Sub2000, PMR. They are all cool little niche guns, keltec builds neat toys unlike any other manufacturer. The polymer they use is very strong and long lasting, I should b
Have broke my SU when it was run over by my truck and trailer but it was fine.

I bought my sub2000 for a cool and packable bush gun while quadding or hiking. It functioned flawlessly while I owned it. The problem for me was the too short lop, I'm left handed and needed to wear glasses any time I shot it or I'd get gas and burnt powder in My eyes.

I've tried the JR carbines, they look cool but are not reliable. Especially the 45 version.

I have finally settled on Thureon. Wow, this is real quality.

Oh, I forgot to add the bonus of the 10rd pistol mags, + mag compatibility with other guns is a big advantage. I got mine in Sig as well, so no need to buy a new stack of mags for good times.

I will agree with everyone else that it's one of the fugliest bang sticks on the market though. :)

Does anyone else feel a weird recoil impulse, it almost bites my cheek like static electricity. My buddy felt it too when he fired it. I just got my sub2000 and yes the sights suck, it feels "plasticky" but it has been 100% reliable and I am suprised at the accuracy, especially considering the crap sights. Out of the box I only need to adjust for elevation (I have just been holding over for now) but other than that and the funny recoil sensation I like the gun and consider it a keeper.

I own the RFB and the su16 as well. I like them too but I would have too say out of the three the su16 is the one that feels the cheapest to me. The RFB is a solid piece and the sub2000 is strong where it counts. Just my opinions.

I just bought one in 9mm and have to say I'm very happy with what it is. What is it??
- 9mm in expensive to shoot
- shoulder mounted little carbine
- non-restricted
- small compact easy to store/transport
- accurate and light
- 10 round pistol mags

I ran 100 rounds through mine right out of the box and it was 100% reliable . At 30 yards I can unload 10 rounds in 5-6 seconds hitting a 4 inch ammo box with factory sights.
I wanted it for a reliable fun easily accessible rifle for my wife to have when we go camping and I leave her alone when I go hiking.
No regrets, it's a cheap non-restricted 9mm that has many applications.

Well I took mine out for the first time yesterday, wouldn't run at all, failures to eject, jamming spent casings into the ejection port area, double feeds without ejecting spent casing. Took it to Wanstalls for warranty, for the money I haven't given up on it yet.

I like mine. Yeah I'd rather have it at 350$ or so but hey, I'd rather a lot of things that aren't. I find it a fun gun, sturdy enough, non restricted, compact and fun to mess about with. I just got mine but already have a quad rail on it, have replaced the plastic bits of the front sight with metal (found on eBay) added the buffer tube cover and am generally quite fond of it. I have a JR carbine as well and I just don't like the size of it. The sub 2000 is what I want in something that shoots 9mm.
