Kel Tec Sub-2000 vs. Just Right Carbine

Looking for a pistol caliber carbine so that I can shoot rifles indoors, and share ammo with rifle and pistol, and kind of narrowed it down to the Kel Tec Sub-2000 and the Just Right Carbine with Glock 17 magazines.

What would people recommend? Specifically, as a new shooter, I am looking for something that is fairly easy to take care of / clean. I won't be doing any competitions in the near future, and no hunting, just plinking at the range, so I am primarily concerned about ease of use and reliability.

I also considered a Ruger PC9, but they are out of production and difficult to find, which makes me hesitant.

Oh, and is this the right section for this topic? There is no pistol caliber carbine section, so these guns seem more like black rifles than pistols.

Aside from the calibre, there really apples and oranges.

The JR carbine is set up to be more of an AR kind of feel whereas the Sub2000 is a compact, lightweight, folding carbine. Both are reasonably priced, but have very different attributes.

If you want a great backpacker rifle that may not be the most accurate or easy to accessorize, go with the sub2000

If you want a good solid, accurate rifle that you can easily run lights and optics on but may be a little more cumbersome in the woods then go with the JR carbine.

I really like the sub2000 mainly because it almost fits in my glovebox and it's super light...kind of like the pocket fisherman of rifles...

I just got the JR and love it!

Everything is aluminum.feels solid and being able to take AR stocks, trigger group, and anything u can put on a rail - upgrades are endless!

Have you considered the Beretta Storm rifles? A bit more expensive but much higher quality and more attractive. Also very easy to field strip.

Keltec feels like its made of popsicle sticks and bubble gum!

For $300 I might buy one as that is what they are worth before the Canadian rape tax!

For $675 it is probably the single most overpriced gun in the Canadian market!

The JR carbine feels like a gun not like the water pistol the Keltec feels like.

Oh and don't forget the extra $150 for the plastic quadrail that is needed to mount optics to that Keltec. What was I saying about being overpriced again?

I agree that the Sub 2000 is a bit too pricey for us and the accessories on top makes it even harder to swallow but part of the extra cost is the custom run of longer barrels.

There is another option for 9mm carbine's coming soon through ArmsEast.

The storm is a ###y gun, and very well built. I sold mine because it was TOO accurate and boring. JR is nice for all the AR addons... and the SUB2000 is a little overpriced and isn't the best quality... BUT it is very unique, and reliable. I like it.

Different firearms for different purpose.

I love my Sub2000 for what it is.
-compact to fit in a backpack, ATV storage box, laptop case, ect...(note that I never carry mine around, those are just exemples).
-cheap ammo
-precise enough at 50-75 meters
-tons of fun to shoot being lightweight
-non-restricted

If you expect more out of it, you bought the wrong thing.
