Kel-tec sub 2000

Yes, agreed. I have a .40 cal Sub 2000 G2 and it has been problem free functionally. But I get it though - if someone has problems with their gun, it does definitely have a big impact on their view, despite what others may experience. I had a lemon of a Honda Accord years ago and I know the overwhelming vast majority of people do not and it is highly rated year after year, but for that exact reason of my past experience I won't get one.

I seem to recall with guns that defects may come in bad batches for certain manufacturing periods. It is unfortunate if an owner encounters two different defective guns. I do seem to recall that Keltec did issue a recall on certain Sub2000s manufactured around the 2017 timeframe. If you have one, it may be worth your while to check your serial number against the database, as if you are affected, Keltec will perform the repair / part replacement at no cost to you:

For sure I would understand why such an owner would have a negative opinion of the gun. The only thing about the Sub2000 I don't like is the extremely stiff charging handle, and the fact that before I fold it, I have to take off the optics. True, I can just choose not to fold it but that eliminates one of the pros of this gun. I agree that I can use a Glock 22 mag on it is a big plus...

Have had mine for about 5 years no issues, never have done a run and gun with it. AR's rule. But I think it will perform.
It's setup for quick mag change and a light.
I like the compact concept,it's part of my bugout bag, lookout!!

I had my teenage daughter try my PCCs last weekend when we went shooting - she loved the Sub2K the most primarily due to the light weight and ease of handling. She wasn't enamored with the sights but she would take lightweight and bad sights over good sights but heavy (Kriss Vector 9mm).

Only thing she doesn't like (and neither do I) is the very stiff charging handle.

Mcarbo makes a few different charging handles and one the call the two finger is longer and easier to grab, the sights are a common complaint as they are at least a quarter inch to low for most humans to get a comfortable cheek weld. Next time your out try rotating the gun a bit so that the sights lean in towards your nose, it seems to help a bit for some people. A red dot is even better.

Thanks for the recommendation - I will look into this. Anything is better than what is there now.

A great utility gun and a sub par plinker if u ask me.

The gen 1's arnt worth their weight in plastic IMO ( waaay to flimsy)

The gen 2's however are fairly robust by polymer gun standards.

I personally dont think they are worth more then 700cad new. And i would NEVER EVER buy a Kel-Tec product used. Cus the lifetime warranty only applies to the original owner!

I sold my Gen 2 a few years ago. O can't say I miss it. It was a nice plinker you could fold up and store easy enough. If I took my time it was minute of Squirrel on a good day. Beyond being a fun plinker I agree with Murray3-D on what I would pay for it. North of $900 I don't think so.

Compare it to a Ruger PCC for the same money......

Just got mine. The folding part is what made me decide to buy it (it can easily be put into a back pack - I am surprised this is legal) plus the 10 round Glock mag (of course this applies to others as well). The iron sights suck, so I ordered a 45 degree mount on aliexpress for like $5. I have ordered mounts on ali before and they are not flimsy regardless what people say. I don't like the one finger charging handle but there are solutions to make it easier but not worth $50 in my opinion.

I was thinking about buying the TNW but the folding part is what dominated my decision and the weight. I almost did not believe what is in the box when I picked it up from the PO and so did the lady there (she is into guns).

Also, they sell like hot cakes, so once the current dealer stock is sold out, prices will go up again.

I have been wanting one for a while now, should of grabbed one when they were 550$ but such is life, I have handled one and they don't seem to bad but never shot one

I check EE for them from time to time but as usual they are going for the same price as new

I won't be paying 849$ plus tax and shipping for one I can tell you that much

The folding part and glock 10 round mags are a bonus

It is like dejavu.

I sold guns for 500 and bought them back later for 800, only to see the price go up to 1.100.

It's like the stock market, never look back.

Until your new sights arrive take a small drill bit and make the rear peep sight a bit larger in diameter without removing the hole. I found it made the rear peep sight a lot more useable. Glad you like your Sub.

I still think the Ruger PCC is a better buy but we all see things differently and that is OK.

I have had a Sub2K G2, .40S&W for years and really like it. We can discuss various take down methods, but the folding mechanism is a draw - that's part of the reason I bought it. Weight is another - my Ruger PC9 with 6 position stock and aluminum handguard is front heavy. Yes, it can be collapsed easily but I still think the Sub2K is just faster and the thing still together. The offset mount for Sub2K takes care of the optic issue. The charging handle location, and high resistance - I am not a fan. If you put a better buttpad on it, it will help. Other than that, I never regretted my purchase. I do like the Glock mags in the grip area.

Someone mentioned ASR - I have that as well and take down is easy (unthread barrel) but again, I like the Sub2K still being in one piece. The Sub2K is very plasticky feeling and some may think it is overpriced, and maybe it is, but the fact that it sells well tells me that people will overlook the cost for having something different.

What a gun is worth is like other things based on supply and demand. Is Gamestop worth $220 US a share? Fundamentally it is not, but people are willing to pay this much for it, so that's what it goes for. I remember before I bought my X95, I was seeing base models on the EE for over $3500. If people are buying it at those price points, I guess that's the going price, whether it is overpriced or not.

The PC9 may very well be the better gun, but to get the adjustable tactical stock with corresponding aluminum handguard, it's another $250-$300 more. It is also a longer gun, so it really depends on your application. I really like my Sub2K, my daughter likes it and my son hates it - probably par for the course just like any other firearm which some will like and others, not so much.

I also have a Chiappa M1-9mm, bought used for a super low price, and I have no issues with it at all. Cycles like a dream. A Ruger PCC would just be too close to that one, except that it takes Beretta mags, which sucks.

Only if you don't have any. LOL

The Chiappa is one gun that I have an itch for and it is priced right.

I have the Standard Ruger PCC. Plain Jane. I have never understood for the fascination of adding the Mlok forearm. Hell a 9MM carbine is about as tactical as an old Toyota with a shotgun in the back seat. The same comment I would make for the tacticool buttstock. Guys buy them then complain about the weight....the real boys in green with black boots carry a heavier gun, loads of ammo and 80 lb sacks on their back and wonder up and down mountains.

I get the tacticool fascination just quit with the, "guns to heavy" when they could have bought a lighter gun.

Enjoy the summer.
