You dont "need" a Larue mount but they (Larue) do make three sizes of mount, and Aimpoint is demo'ing them with Larue mounts -- I don't like the stock mount myself either. Aimpoint has both low and high mounts - but as I mentioned before - not a fan.
M4B -- Feb/March for general release - its a nice unit
The Micro on the Matech rear will be a kick as LMG/GPMG red dot...

Mike put a pic of his recce rifle. After he put up pics of me chopping the MRE.

Spike -- WTF did you put a KX3 on the Sig for -- your going to TRASH your rifle due to the excess port pressure - the same way the early 552's beat themselves to death.
The Aimpoint M4B is basically a CompM4 that has the battery box and rheostat that has been redesigned and moved to the lower left of the body so it is out of the way and more protected from impact.
The new T1-Micro has a different adjustment system - instead of those little tits from the caps - it has a scallop cut that is the same as a 5.56mm casing.

Hell its no issue but it was making it seem as tho that rifle was the end product.... hence the comments from others below that picture.
I guess my T-1 is a old one as it does have the t**ts on the adjustment caps, they must have just come out with the new one.

Daniel Defense makes a 12" rail (both M4 and Lite) with provision for fixed FSB exactly how you modified the MRE.
If anybody want to have the similar outcome as Kevin they can use this rail and save the MRE from chopping it.

Slide the rail with FSB inside over the barrel. Tap in the taper pins through the opening. I did that with my DD 12.0 rail install.

It's not bad on there and I don't mind it at all. Will have to try it out at a Tac match to how she goes.

The KX3 is the biggest scam of all time that preys on people lack of understanding of the AR system ( or people with ####ty AR that is not done correctly)
Increasing the duration of the pressurization is not going to help if the volumetric flow of gas is calibrated correctly with the correct gas port size. Just because the AK Krink gas system is designed to use a muzzle device to prolong the pressure duration, it doesn't mean the AR needs one - and that the system is calibrated to use such a muzzle device, not as an after thought. Basicly you are just slamming the door open, after the door is open, you keep pushing the door against the wall.....

That's what I figured but wasn't sure if maybe there was some fancy way to do it without removing the FSB.

I would not go that far. It has a few advantages.
Even a properly tuned short barrel (12 and under needs the extra presssure)
No matter how many springs, washers and doodles you might add.
It also prevents muzzle rise by a #####.
But yes, the open door thing is a right analogy but an AR shorty is alwys looking for ease of ejection, hence all the ideas out there.
Hint : one the YHM and one the vortex increase pressure by almost 3/4 of what the krink does.
