So after a long an ardous think, I sold two rifles to buy this. I havent had a chance to shoot it yet, just enough time to mount the scope and take a few pictures.

It has an Elite 4200 2.5-10 on it, and the knife is a Fallkniven pxl incase anyone was wondering.

Hope you enjoy!

Those Kimbers sure look nice. The only thing about them is that they seem hit and miss - either you get a good one or a headache.

I bought a Montana in 300WSM..Love it...with a mounted Steiner straight 6 its a great pkg. I think under 7 lbs.. Shoots the first 3 into MOA...nice round groups...recoil is jumpy off the bench, but standing it fits real well....This one will stay with me till the end. A treat to shoot and carry

I had some worries about this, but I finally got out to the range today with a few boxes of ammo to see how it shot at 100yds.
- Hornady 150 GMX Superformance: shot great, touching at 100, did not bother to measure the groups, but they touched so thats good enough for me.

- Hornady 165 Interbond Superformance: Horrible groups. like 5 inches. My gun just does not like them.

- Norma 180 Alaska: Same deal, big open groups. Looked like buck shot patterns.

- Federal Vital Shok High Energy 180 Partitions: Just like the Hornady 150s, the shots were touching. Very pleased with these, although off the bench they have more punch than my 45-70.

As far as the gun itself I love it, fit and finish is perfect. It shoulders like it was made for me, and handles incredibly. It is a hair under 7lbs scoped.

Dogleg, I can only imagine that thing is punishing off the bench.

I had one for a few years, kind of regret selling it, same calibre as yours. That's a pretty nice, but heavy scope for an ultralight rifle.

On the accuracy thing, a gun that weighs 5 3/4 pounds naked is a bit tricky to shoot off a bench. I also took a bit of time to find a good load, I settled on 150 gr Btips and Re15, I used it for deer and that load whacks em hard. I generally had two touching and then the third somewhere within a couple of inches, eventually I figured I had never shot a third round at an animal before so the first two tight was OK. The kimber was the easiest rifle I have ever owned to shoot offhand, I ran a 6x Nikon on mine.

I have a 8400 Classic select in 30-06, yours pictured appears the same as mine.

I had an issue when it was new (2yrs ago) with the magazine spring as it would not feed the rounds up from the mag reliably. The folks at kimber were very good they sent me a whole new mag spring shaped a little differently and it has worked great.

I have loaded 165 gr nosler partion's for years as they shot very well out of the old Model 70. The accuracy is about the same in the Kimber, 1" groups at 100yds. I have two many Noslers on hand not to use them, and those groups are working just fine for me.

I scoped mine with a Leupold 3.5 x 10. I'am pleased with the rifle but it was pricy. I have a new Model 70 in 243, it is a very good shooter with good quality for the money, but it is not in the same league as the Kimber for fit, finish and quality.
