Just picked up this Kimber Montana 8400 30-06.
In my experience its easier to shoot accurately than the lighter 84L.
1/2 inch group at 100 yards with first load tried.
The scope ring bases have a shallow groove so that you can use the iron sights when the scope is removed. I like to have backup iron sights. When I lived on the west coast, I shot my best Blacktail buck in pouring rain with iron sights.

Nice rifle Rob, sounds like you got an accurate rifle. I got a 8400, 7mm wsm that I bought from S.I.R back in 2007. It shoots well also. My rifle weighs 6lb 3oz bare. I've had no issues with it. Trigger is set at 2.5 lbs. Enjoy your new rifle.

They were put on by one of the best in the business; Ralf Martini.
I almost called with Mr visa for that one....oh well, at least it's not a shooter or anything.....
Is that you clay?I'm the one who procrastinated too long and missed that stainless model 70 classic 30-06 you had couple months ago. ...I think about that rifle every day hating myself.
