Congratulations to the folks that wrote letters etc. I'm actually shocked this didn't go through, because these sorts of things only get brought up when the government thinks they have the votes to win. I suspect the outpouring affected the vote. Please remember who to vote out.
 
Within 10 minutes of sending my email, Boehme and Chapelle replied saying they will not support the motion and will speak against it, and I applaud them. It isn't easy for city councillors to speak against strengthening gun control measures because it paints them as not caring about public safety. It takes a special type of politician to understand that C-71 is not and never was about public safety. I wish my local city councillors weren't spineless sacks of ####.
 
Excellent... Kingston is a left wing city so this is a big victory. A few families have was too much influence on politics in that town. And with Queen's, it doesn't help either.
Glad to see the mayor voted against.
 
Nice. Now maybe they can focus on all the meth and crack heads walking up and down Princess st. Maybe even fix the intersection of Princess and Sir John A that for 10 years will blow the suspension out of an HD truck.

Oosterhof- male mid 50's - non-gunnie rural councillor
Osanic - female mid 30's - non-gunnie but husband is a competitive shooter
Stroud - male 40s - non-gunnie emergency room nurse :)

Hill- male- 60's deputy mayor non gunnie ex teacher (seconded the motion-he is the originator though based on what I saw)
Holland - female 40's non gunnie ex NDP candidate for Kingston
Hutchinson - male 60's non gunnie
Kiley - male 30's non gunnie (my councillor, who campaigned on a hand gun ban was not municipal business)
McLaren - male 30's non gunnie - submitted the motion.
Neil - male 60's non gunnie and ex teacher.

Mayor Paterson - male mid 40's and was the tiebreaker - voted to reject the motion.

This isn't over!!! We have to get rid of these people next municipal election!!!! I will be writing back to the entire group again and asking what McLaren thinks he means by saying this as a response to one persons email before the vote:

That lying weasel and Wayne Hill (Who by the way is not only an ex teacher, but he just retired from being the Principal of Regiopolous Notre Dame High school!) so the brain washing about school shootings from the US is strong in him. I am betting Wendy had her hands in this whole thing!

I just checked and they just started their 4 year term on Dec 1st, 2018!!!! F@@@@@@CK!!!!! We can't let this be forgotten in the fall of 2022!!!!
 
Kiley relied to my email with this long winded response about growing up on a farm around firearms and understanding that law abiding gun owners are not the problem but they have to do something. He basically said “don’t worry, I know you aren’t the problem, but I want the government to take away your property”. The typical “because #### you, that’s why” response from a politician we’re all too familiar with.
 
Pissed I couldn't make it to bring up the problem everyone should be focusing on, the border and good policing! No more beating around the bush....

Wonder why they didn't mention the Dr. that was just convicted of killing his wife and sentenced to 14 years in jail.
