Kipplauf Club

Unless I've missed it, I haven't seen any reference to the F.A.I.R. K500 Kipplauf. Since the R. in F.A.I.R is, I believe, for Rizzini, I'm guessing that they are made by Rizzini. Does anyone have any experience with the F.A.I.R. kipplauf? The price seems very reasonable.

Fabrique Armi Isadoro Rizzini to be exact , he was one of Rizzini bothers .
The outfit is now run by Luca Rizzini .
Their single is a good rifle. I owned one for a bit .....

2,500 for a gun with no tilting block seems a lot.

They do look like nice guns, I was eyeing a couple up at the Calgary gun show.

the storage of the extra round in the action is kind of neat but makes it seem like the gun is a bit of an afterthought on a sub bore double barrel frame. Is this the case? 28 gauge? Maybe 410

Krieghoff Hubertus and Chapuis Oural have no tilting block and their prices are much higher.

Excuse my ignorance, but could you explain what is meant by "tilting block." I'm completely unfamiliar with these break-open single shot rifles. Don't they break open like a O-U shotgun? The F.A.I.R. kipplauf is evidently built on a 28-gauge action.

The lock of the action is a separate piece from the breeche of the gun allowing the guns to handle very high pressures, and modern examples to use aluminum receivers.

“Hallowell & co” said:
A lock-up system for break-open guns that sidesteps the inherent weakness of the bar action system. Between the breech end of the barrels and the traditional standing breech, in battery, a separate tilting block fits into a recess on the underside of an integral rear extension of the barrel(s), relieving virtually all the flexion force between the traditional standing breech and the bar of the action. When the gun is opened, the barrels raise at their breech end leaving the tilting block behind. The actual receiver, thus, could possibly be made of aluminum or even plastic.Patented by Franz Jaeger in 1908. Used today in Blaser's Model S-2 double rifle and in many of Ferlach maker, Schiering's guns.

You can see the tilting block in this photo of the new sabatti; which import pending may take the place of the Haenel as the budget option

Are the Hubertus and oural just a simple hinge action with traditional breech block? I’m sure they are well made but in some sense don’t we nuts pay for the design we like?

The same action style is used for their 20 gauge O/U and SXS frames as their rifle cartridges as well, they are extremely strong actions.

I was this close to getting one of those Luxus rifles from Prophet a few years back when they had a bunch...and then was fortunate enough to handle one beforehand. Beautiful rifle, wonderful wood, handled nicely...but the dang scope rings are mounted too far to the rear for my gibbon-armed giraffe-necked frame. To put things in perspective, I like a Ruger #1 with the scope mounted in normal rings, not cantilevered ones...and depending upon the scope I don't usually even have it nearly as far back as it could go. The Luxus had the scope so far back I almost got scope eye just from shouldering it. The standard version is even worse. Saved me a couple grand. :)

Does the scope mount onto a quarter rib?

Does the scope mount onto a quarter rib?

It does. If the rifle were a falling block, the barrel would be another inch or two further forward, and the quarter rib would be nicely positioned. But on this break-action the rear scope ring is just too far back for me. I'm sure the people who mount their scopes with the eyepiece halfway along the cheekpiece would be happy with it. :)

How have you found your Luxus re handling qualities, build quality, and accuracy? Has this company gone out of business? I couldn't find a website for Luxus Arms>

It handles well, not as well as my double but pretty close and better than any bolt action. Luxus arms was in the Turkish walnut business and began making small runs of rifles which they no longer do. The rifle side of the company pulled the pin but you can usually find used ones in good conditions.

Well I went ahead and got tikka Talley mounts put on the rail of the Haenel.

Pictures of it and it’s bespoke case to follow

Been a while since I’ve been on the Fanzoj sight to plan my post lottery builds, so I missed out on this baby.

I think that is an enlarged version of their kippblock system with a massive dolls head on it. Would love to see more about the action. The styling is not to my taste but undoubtedly took a lot of skill. Nice combo of old and new on stock design etc.

Joins the prinz as one of two 338 lapua kipplaufs I know of. Not a lot, but more than I’d think

Edit:

Another new one from fanzoj

4.8lbs in some serious euro 22 centrefires, bet it’s a great chamois or Swiss marmot hunting gun in 17 hmr and it’s light weight allows you to carry more kirsch
