The five round mags... 'Coupled with that bull-pup design... I can't see that as a recipe for success.

It has been confirmed the LA K12 can be threaded for chokes at the expence of not being able to be threaded for a break.
 
It would have been nice if Lever thought to use pre-existing SAP6 mags.
Designed for a pump, so no limit. Currently made in 6 and 11 round versions.

It still doesn't have chokes. 9 shots is better, but I have that in my Versa Max.

You need to decide on a couple of things, budget and what you're shooting 3G for. Do you want to win, place well or just shoot for fun? If you're there for fun, any reliable shot gun will work.

The equipment/division rules of the group you intend to shoot 3G with will also drive your choice.

Edit: IMO, buy an 870 that's threaded for chokes, put the biggest extension on it you can find, and go shoot a season of matches. You'll know what you need by the end of the year.
 
Have you looked at the Akdal?

It's restricted, but if it's for gaming that shouldn't be a problem:

I'm curious to tinker with the Puma myself, but I had a great season last year shooting the Akdal.

Although looking back I wince at how slow this is:

 
All the information in this thread is pretty much useless until you do two things. 1. Go to the club(s) where you want to shoot and see what their division rules are. Then 2. Decide what division you want to shoot. Until that time this is just going to be a thread of people throwing out names of their favourite shotguns.

I'd recommend a different approach for someone just starting out: don't let the division dictate the shotgun choice - shoot what you want to shoot and don't give whatever division it puts you in another thought. And the info in this thread is pretty good for someone new to 3 gun...you've learned that mag fed shotguns have reliability issues, chokes are important, and some semis in Canada can legally hold a lot more than 5 shells ;). That is a pretty good start! Its a heck of a lot more than I knew when I started!

Current start out guns :

Me: Glock 17, CORE15 M4, Shotgun?

Wife: M&P 9mm , CORE15 M4, Shotgun? ( She has a mossberg 500 spx tactical but itsonly a 6 shot one)

I will probably have to look at cheap and cheerful to start off with the shotgun side of things. Chances of being a "wunderkind" high placed competitor in your start off season is slim, so I will probably spend more on a shotgun at the end of the first season of 3G and run cheaply until I can figure out what I really want/need. This thread has been quite useful with a lot of great info so far as a previous poster stated. Keep you thoughts coming, I am learning from all of you guys :)

Don't fret over having a six shot tube.
Practice reloading and pay attention to when/where in the CoF reloading can/should be done and you'll easily out do the shooters who rely on capacity too much

Yep. its been a long learning curve...Tried a box fed(no reliability issues), regular pump, tactical semi.... finally settled on a Benelli m2.

Should have gone straight to the m2.
