I'm in too! Only got a jake last year, but have seen some nice toms around. Maybe I'll get lucky. Thanks for donating the call Grnhawg.

don't forget to reduce the weight by about 2 ounces of copper plated lead! At 23 yards and an undertaker choke...I'm surprised you can hold him up by the head. It would have been gone if I'd shot one at 23 yards with my Benelli and the Kick's GT .665 I've got. Nice bird! Got pic's of those spurs?

The neck was pretty jelly like. Here is a couple of pics of the spurs and Beard, oh yeah, he dressed out at just 16 pounds, I think that is about the max. for my turkey fryer:D

Nice Birds guys!!

7.62, nice Tom!!

My buddy and I scored opening morning at 6:30am. Not big enough to win the prize (yet).
My buddies was around 12, mine about 15. Beards about 2.5-3". Spurs not worth measuring.
Called 3 jakes in, all the same size. My buddy had a couple jakes come in to him as well.
Fun hunt, pressure's off. More to do though...

Let's see those birds boys!! (and girls)

Just curious... what's a "morrel", and how do you make it into gravy?

they're mushrooms, of sort. when I cut them up I pretend I'm dicing up smurfs. :D

the easiest way to turn them into gravy would be to make gravy from a packet, and then cut them up and add them - just make sure you wash the piss off them first! bon apetite!

AHHH, I LOVE the smurf thing. Hell, I could use that for chopping vegetables and it'd make me feel better about it!!

These are morel's. Very delicious, & hard to find. Only come out in the Spring for a couple of weeks. NOT available in the supermarket :D.

GrndHawg,

No story to go along with that nice gobbler? I'm going to wait a couple of weeks for my next bird to fatten up so I can win your pot call ;). Congrats on getting your bird.

Eyya...listen guys, the last time I picked a fungi of the forest floor and ate it, I ended up on some island in the middle of nowhere with strangely-colored tribal people who didn't speak english. Apparently they wanted me to marry the grand poobah's daughter.... She had a nosering the size of my wallet...

I don't know if these f*n burn marks are ever gonna go away either....
