Hi, Just got some LAR-15's and tried them out at TSE. I loaded 10 in the mags, and it was jamming up my Bushmaster every time. I tried 9 in and it worked fine WTF?. Has anybody else had this issue as well?. Would love some feedback or advice.
THX.

NO I didn't load with closed bolt, Open and when I hit release it would jam up like it was too tight in the mag to release round correctly

I only had that happen a couple times. Mine have been good about stripping the first round with ten loaded. Don't know if running a FA carrier (more mass) has anything to do with it.

Take apart the mag and trim the follower....if you put a ranger plate on the bottom this is a must. Use a dremel or good old sand paper. Just take a bit off of the stabilizers.

Just be careful doing this. I tried this fix as well, I took much less than an 1/8" off of the legs of the mag follower, and I was able to get 11 rounds in the mag. (I threw that follower out). If you search the forums, Mark a Questar had another suggestion that works, search my user name for the thread.

I can only fit 9 rounds period. The 10th doesn't squeeze in no matter how hard I try.

They are 9 round mags.

They are 10 round mags... if yours only holds 9 then there is something wrong with your mag. If you bought it from us then send it back with a copy of your invoice and we'll fix or replace it.

They hold 10 rounds... and they load fine. There can be a problem to "seat" when fully loaded and the bolt is closed (that's not unusual for any mag... 30 rounders loaded to 30 are difficult to seat on a closed bolt as well).

ADDED... I just checked one of the magazines from the new shipment that's just arrived... to be 100% sure that these newest magazines hold 10 with no problem. They do hold 10 (in fact they hold 10 with a slight bit of play so they may even load now on a closed bolt... but would have to confirm that at the range to be sure).

I have two I ordered from Questar about a year back, they load into my Norinco CQ311 just fine, with a full 10 rounds.

the mags hold 10 no problem. The problem is when the bolt moves forward it won't push shell fully into chamber and jams half in mag and on lip of chamber.

Where and when did you get them? If you got them from us then email me directly and let's figure out what' wrong.

I got them from a fellow cgn'er a week ago

Hard to say what the cause is as you don't know what's been done to the mags... if they are original... if they've been modified... etc..

Could be as simple as the lips are bent slightly... could be holding that tenth round too tight and because of that the round won't strip off smoothly. The 9th or less round would have less tension and strip off easier and might work okay. That's just a guess. Without seeing it and doing some testing it's hard to say the exact cause. All you can do is trial and error to try to rule out what it isn't and that way you're left with only a couple of causes and then you try to solve them.

Best I can do for you with the limited info you've given.

Good luck...

Mark

Mine work fine, hold ten, fit and latch on a closed bolt, and have since I got them well over a year ago.

I have some in the mail from Questar so I will be able to compare and hopefully find the problem. Thanks for the help guys.
