Boy do they suck. I bought 5 and broke 3 already. One by dropping on the floor and the other two just playing around with my vest. They twist and are very fragile. Did I get a bad batch or are they like that?

Ordered 3 from questar, broke 2 just installing them.... they are chipped. I think I'll toss them in the fire and keep the mags stock... what if I drop the mags, couplers will fail and mag springs will go flying everywhere with ammo? Bleh.

Plastic couplers = fail....

I did break one installing it.
I think the best way is to tape them once they're installed.
I put a half dozen wraps of fabric camo tape around them and the mag bodies and I think they'll be a lot more robust.

It is a little upsetting that Questar would sell such a low quality product to their valued customers. They have been good to deal with and I generally like to use them. In fact, I plan on buying a high end AR from them with a bunch of LAR-15's and couplers this spring. Thanks for the heads up. Why wouldnt they sell the metal ones? Questar can you explain? This is not good publicity for you. I like to deal with companies that warn me about inferior products.

I have a metal one and it doesn't seem like the mags really "click" in like with a regular baseplate. I have found it in my range bag with one mag starting to slide off. Between this and the fear of damaging the feed lips on the bottom mag when going prone or off the bench I think I am just going to use Magpul/Tactipul baseplates.

Did you use the screw on the narrow end to properly install the metal coupler to the mags?

They must have changed because I have two ones from a few months ago and they are totally fine. Then I got one last week and it just slips off.

We stopped carrying the plastic ones and only stock the metal ones now. But I hardly think Questar would knowingly sell a defective product.

You might find the same issues with any aftermarket base plates as they reduce capacity ever so slightly. Another post suggested filing down the base posts on the followers by a few millimeters.

OMG people, use the screw supplied, don't file stuff down.

I also learned the hard way by having a plastic one die before I even got to use it. It is the only bad product that I have bought from Questar. I then ordered two metal ones with the small set screw from Dlask and they work fine.
