Great mounts I have seen one better than the fallow and in season but the stalker wisely motioned me not to shoot due to exorbitant trophy fees!
looking back my bank balance and wife are glad even if I'm not. I pick up some antlers whilst out beating so the medal winners here are sometimes road kill etc. That Munty though is pure evil. I heard of one wounded and cornered opening up a GSP (wiemeraner I think) and the vet couldnt get it back right after!
Kudos to you hunting buddy!

was hunting for one of my supplemental does with one of my Trad bows, when i hear d a noise. thinking it was a deer coming along, got ready and this guy popped out. had my general elk tag in the pack, so i let 'er rip.

wasnt to bad, not as much of a blood trail as i had hoped, i used a 2 blade broadhead, and with being hunting with trad gear, i got good penetration with the low power since i didnt have training wheels on the bow;)

Out here on Vancouver Island we have an Elk draw.
My Buddy was lucky and won a tag for a cow Elk.
I took him up to where I was logging at the time and we were almost at where I wanted to park the camper when we saw a small herd of elk.
I said "Kenny don't be surprised tomorrow morning if you open the camper door to take a leak and see an Elk looking at you."
Well it didn't quite turn out that way, but it was close.
A ten minute drive down the road and the herd was there.
Kenny shot this cow, and when we took it to the butcher shop they said that it was the biggest cow Elk they'ed ever seen.
We got over 1000 lbs. of meat off of her.
Man was she tasty.

Timc.
That's not the rifle that took the Elk I just let my boy hold it for the pic.
The riifle is a 1903 Mannlicher Shoenaur.
It's a 6.5x54 carbine and it's very light and would be an excellent kid's or ladie's rifle.

We have moved a Rosie elk here on the coast that was just under 1500lbs on the scale.....was a big bull. We have seen cows just as large. same elk stock as Vanc. Island
