I think that (? x?)only applies to elk & mule deer...whitetails are counted by total points ie. 8point, 10 point etc. Everything that is >1" is a point. Maybe just a regional thing though? :)
Thats how it is done in my area anyway.

Thats an East vs West thing, In the west we call it a 4 x 4, or a 4 pointer, in the east people tend to call it an 8-pointer.

October 26/2008 decided to drop this little meat buck before we go back to 4pt mulie season. He was about 75yrds downhill when I first shot (and missed:eek:) I thought I had a solid lung shot but he was heading farther downhill so I took another quick shot and he dropped instantly. Good thing I followed up as when I got down to him I realized that my first shot missed completely:eek: My second shot went right below the ear (not intentionally either). Sometimes it doesn't go as planned but works out anyways :redface:

Also found these moose sheds while hiking around. Made me wish I had gotten a bull draw :)

CampCook.. Thats an awesome looking bear. I,ve never hunted them due to availabilty but that looks like a biggie to me. What kind is it?

It's an interior grizzly it's skull measures 24 1/6" which puts it into the Boone & Crocket all time record book.

Don Frye is the toughest man on earth! He was one of the original UFC fighters back in the day and was known for, well being the toughest dude on earth.

I guess it's not funny if you don't know him.

If you have a few minutes google 'dear don IFL'. It is the life advice column that a real man would write, not some queer eye for the straight guy b.s.

1899; you should have known that it wasn't 'The Predator' with that antelope, there was a bullet hole in it, Don would have just punched it!!!!

Got a little guy this year! Shot at 150yds broadside with a Sako 75 in 308 Win using a 165gr TSX. Got the 308 off Crazytrout a few weeks ago and it's one of my favourites.

Great pics everyone!

My first deer (with a crossbow)

I got my first deer, an 8 point buck at 45 yards with my crossbow. Got him right in the breadbasket, he went about 100 yards and dropped - perfect shot.

He's hanging in the garage curing, and then I am taking the head to a local taxidermist and the rest of it is going to the butcher. My buddy got a monster buck the other day, and he's giving me the meat for that one, so I'll have about 300 lbs of venison in the freezer - enough to get the family through the winter and lower the meat bill.

Hunting with a crossbow is a real challenge (for me). The shot was a long one, but I've been practicing at various distances, including up to 60 yards.

The buck followed out two does that had come out earlier. They are in the rut now. This buck saw my blind and dismissed it and went past. He was about to turn back in towards the bush when he presented his side to me and looked away. This one stood still and the shot was perfect and impacted about a second after I released it. It went through both lungs and shaved the tips off two vertibrae. He was easy to track in the snow leaving both prints and blood spray as be breathed out while running. He died in the bush about 50 yards from where he entered. It was a good clean kill with little suffering. He has a beauty rack and will make a fine mount and I've 'negotiated' a spot for him at the top of the stairs in the house.

8 mm mauser kicks but..who needs 30 cal?

smoked this 6x4 at 400 yards with iron sights..but who cares abut that.the real thing here to me is how well the 8mm 323 diameter ballistic tips from nosler did..ever since the they brought out the 325 cal we that own old mauser milsurps just got access to some top grade bullets..i easily got it worked up to 2870 feet per second with H4350 and cci 200 primers and it does not even look hot.. i was gonna work it up to 2900fps but my buddy with his magnum was gettin choked up when he saw the crono reading. figured we were gonna kill ourselves but the primers look good .talk about straight shooting man was i impressed..i think she deserves a scope..i was not even gonna try the shot but it might be the last day i can get out..enjoy
