I have a Savage Axis .22-250 with a 12:1 twist. What is the largest game I can ethically take and the best round for the job?
I guess I need to add to my question, I'm north of North Bay Ontario and the last time I shot an animal was 22 years ago with a .22lr (gopher head shot, found out that a chest shot is better, whistled through the poor bastards ears) The only hunting experience I have is the Ontario hunting course a year ago. I also have a Marlin .444 but I have better acuracy with my Savage. Ethical for me is shoot to kill, not just wound.
