LaRue, PWS, KAC etc, What Are We Really Paying For?

You are paying for quality control first
Steel type and selection second
Name third

I disagree. In the case of HK you are paying for:

Steel type + fabrication/manufacturing technology first
QC second
Other stuff next

As I pointed out in a previous post on this thread, most of the premium you're paying for with an HK is the barrel.

With HK you are paying for confiscatory gov't taxes levied on the manufacturer and the cost is passed onto the customer first.

QA/QC second.

Inflated employee wages and other inefficiencies that go along with any product of the EU.

I used to be an HK fanboy but I think they've started to stagnate lately. They still make good guns but aren't really producing ground breaking stuff...except for maybe that MP7...

Who cares if it's made of plastic, I just want one.

Many will point out some imaginary flaws toward top shelf firearms because they are not ready to spend that kind of money for a high end firearms... Peoples who own them cant find those flaws and are seldom at regret of purchasing such firearm... Human nature, i guess... JP.

The simple truth is that value in ARs (or any black rifle) falls of fast and hard after $1500. Spending double (or triple) won't get you double the parts life or a rifle that is twice as accurate, accept it, buy and shoot what you want while we still have the freedom.

Same thing for a 1911. A $4500 svi won't be more accurate then a $1500 s&w. When you pay for the name, you pay for the reputation because that brand earn that reputation.

I've built both of mine using all Noveske components. LPK's and HP/MP bolts are CMT which is a supplier to Noveske. Triggers are Geissele.

All those premium parts and you top it off with a POS NcStar optic?! For shame...

Perhaps you feel your freedom is negotiable and at the hands of others, mine however is not..

If the imports/exports from the US or Europe get shut down your freedom to buy what you want will be reduced. So buy and shoot what you want while you still have the freedom.

Or they could go bankrupt and suddenly you can't buy a Saturn.

Just like Camera lenses, $3000 zeiss or $200 Tamron, makes no difference to you if you only point and shoot (no pun intended).
a pro with a Tamron can out shoot an amateur with a Zeiss, a pro with Hasselblad + Zeiss will blow your fxxking mind :) so there is absolutely little doubt Zeiss is better than Tamron,
but is it worth it to you is up to you to decide.

2 things I live by since I was 20 years old and learned a few lessons:
Buy what you can afford and enjoy, who cares what other people have, no one cares what you have.
Dont go into credit card debt that you cant clear off in 2 months.

Goes for any type of non investment purchase, Ive been very happy financially since then.

That's what happens when you spend all your money on premium parts. You run out of it at some point.
It was only because I was an optic short and didn't want to leave the rifle looking naked.
I knew somebody would pick it off.
