Nope, but intimidation does not stop an attack. Its a crap shoot at best and a game of chance with bad results should someone call your bluff. Gunshot wounds are far more reliable in deterring an attack then posturing.

If you run out of ammo, you can always point the laser in the attacker's eye - LOL! You could shoot horizontal (ganster style) too, and still hit the target.
You can make hits "gangster" style with iron sights, not that shooting that way is preferred.

Hits on target 'gangsta style' with iron sites is almost as kewl as having a laser....

If by "kewl" you mean lame as f*ck then you're right.
At the end of the day I would spend my money on a light over a laser. You can't shoot(and shouldn't shoot) what you can't positively identify. The laser doesn't aid in identification.
