Laser Bore Sighters

I use the same Bushnell as above as well as the cartridge type for my CZ 22's, the Bushnell doesn't fit in the bore of those. Both work fine, I can sight a new scope in the basement close enough to get on paper at the range and go from there.

I have used a $15 Chinese eBay knock off of the style above for probably close to 15 years now and am still on the original batteries, and it’s easily sighted in 4 or 5 guns/optics per year that whole time. It’s not rocket science, just start off at close range and work your way out.

Have a Bushnell one that slides into the muzzle end of the barrel that I use for semi autos, gets me on paper at 25y.

I pull the bolt and look down the barrel to bore sight bolt actions, that gets me on paper everytime and is free. I sight down the barrel and shoot 1-2 @50 then adjust and move out to 100m, paying someone else to bore sight seems like a waste of money. It’s a very simple process, it’s just to get you on paper.

It sounds like you can test at any distance in your very rural area. A bore sighter may not be needed, especially with .22LR rifles. Shoot them first at 25 yards. They should be on paper (even 8.5" x 11") and adjust the scope accordingly. Then shoot at 50 and adjust for that distance.

If you're not on paper at 25 with any rifle, the scope mounting may require reassessment. The same holds if you are on paper at 25 but not at 50.

That’s usually what I have done is just shoot and adjust, all though I figured a bore sight maybe a better option to save on ammo, only need to sight in my henry 22 lever have a red dot for it. My 30-30 I’m still weighing options for a scope for hunting

I have used the Leupold bore sighters for years; they work very well.
I have also removed the bolt and looked down the barrel at a round target at 25 yards. This too works well (for bolt actions and single shots)
Have never liked the ones that you insert into the end of the barrel. (Although I have not tried the one that Jim Shockey endorses)

I have only just bought a few of the cartridge laser sighters to try, and to carry on hunts. (7mm-08, 6.5 CM, 270/280/30-06, and 270/300 WSM)

I have one I bought at Cabelas for $50 about 10 years ago, they still sell em tho now $70. Bushy 'in the bore', I use in my backyard after dark (so the neighbors dont b****) for 25yd. Gets me within a few inches at 50yds for all my rifles. Still the same battery, too. Only a few rifles for scope juggling-upgrades.

I’ll have to look around then or at least just do it the old fashion way lol. Just have to sight in a two lever actions and eventually a semi auto

I currently use the wheeler green laser which I am very satisfied with. I have used other lots of other different bore sighting tools, however the wheeler is way the best. I setup a reflective target on my Container and can sight the rifle in bright sunlight in the day time.

Ya I have seen and heard about this wheeler bore sight laser, all though to me 149.99 seems Offaly expensive to only being used a few times to sight in say 3-5 rifles I have eventually all will have scopes but still. Seems free for the amount of times I would use it is all

This is all you'll need for the next few years : http s://www.amazon.ca/GOODTAC-Collimator-Boresighter-Caliber-Firearm/dp/B08X6DS6JY/ref=sr_1_9?crid=1TV94GVLTMQCQ&keywords=bore+sighter&qid=1691617799&sprefix=bore+sight%2Caps%2C103&sr=8-9

If you change scopes and/or get diff rifles, you'll be glad. As I said, I use mine in the evening in my backyard. Twilight makes the cheap laser "good enuf".

How accurate is it ?? As I’ve heard these type aren’t very accurate as they can move or not be straight in the bore like kinda deal.

The 'expanding collet' goes into the bore so you need to use the correct one; then the 'taper' of the laser body 'self-centers' at the muzzle. Nothing complicated . . . If someone had 'trouble' with one I'd say it was a 'personal-problem'. I use mine at 25 yds to 'Z' and it gets me on paper, within 2-3" at 50 yds. I've done 8-9 rifles (swapping scopes, too) and still on the same battery !

Oh ok, fair enough. Would it work for setting up to 100yrds ?? As I’ve likely got enough room to get at least 50yards easily. Might even have room outside for 100 but I’d have to double check I can’t member of the side lot is that big

Just to clarify, when the collet is attached to the sighter it has to be 'snug' in the barrel. Then, twisting the sighter when fully in the muzzle will tighten the collet more and keep it in place. One has to understand how an expanding collet works - not rocket science. Maybe the 'instructions' others had were 'poor Chinese translations' like I've seen for other stuff.

If you're doing that at twilight the cheap ones might be OK for 100. The more powerful lasers need more powerful $$. If you Z at 50, getting 100 is just more fiddling same as when you change ammo.

Also, I've found at 50-yds you want a 'non-reflective' target. Gloss paper/paint/siding causes the beam to look 'fuzzy', beige paper worked best for me as opposed to white paper.

Ya I was gonna either use some target paper I have it’s white or my fence as it kinda has that weather colour to it

I’ll have to give it a shot, 26$ I’ve spent more on items that were less lmao.

*add to cart ! Lol
