I use the same Bushnell as above as well as the cartridge type for my CZ 22's, the Bushnell doesn't fit in the bore of those. Both work fine, I can sight a new scope in the basement close enough to get on paper at the range and go from there.
It sounds like you can test at any distance in your very rural area. A bore sighter may not be needed, especially with .22LR rifles. Shoot them first at 25 yards. They should be on paper (even 8.5" x 11") and adjust the scope accordingly. Then shoot at 50 and adjust for that distance.
If you're not on paper at 25 with any rifle, the scope mounting may require reassessment. The same holds if you are on paper at 25 but not at 50.
If you change scopes and/or get diff rifles, you'll be glad. As I said, I use mine in the evening in my backyard. Twilight makes the cheap laser "good enuf".
The 'expanding collet' goes into the bore so you need to use the correct one; then the 'taper' of the laser body 'self-centers' at the muzzle. Nothing complicated . . . If someone had 'trouble' with one I'd say it was a 'personal-problem'.I use mine at 25 yds to 'Z' and it gets me on paper, within 2-3" at 50 yds. I've done 8-9 rifles (swapping scopes, too) and still on the same battery !
Also, I've found at 50-yds you want a 'non-reflective' target. Gloss paper/paint/siding causes the beam to look 'fuzzy', beige paper worked best for me as opposed to white paper.
