Who knows where to purchase visible laser system that similar to DBAL laser system here in Canada for civilians use?

ok when I youtube DBAL laser system, I was expecting to see the line of the laser and not just the dot of laser when it hits a wall for an example. You know what I mean....like the one on the act of valor.

So now after knowing that, what's the difference between $300 -$500 laser compare to DBAL which starts from $1200 really?

The only way you can see a laser as a "beam" in the air is if there is dust, smoke, fog or some other type of tiny particles suspended in the air to reflect the beam...which of course also reduces the range and power of the laser. In clear, clean air the only thing visible is the dot of light projected onto the target.

Not according to the guy above you, TV-press pass. Class 3 laser has "pencil beam" type of laser.

Someone had a DBAL for sale in the EE

I know but it is not the "pencil beam" one. I cannot justify spending $600 for a regular "dot" laser where I can get a regular "dot" laser for half of that brand new.

I am though willing to spend more for laser 3 laser with "pencil beam" type of laser

No problem...have fun looking for one that works and looks like the ones in video games.

I hope you report back here when you do...TVguy will be happy.

Better yet...do a tiny little bit of research.

I am a bit lazy so I came here lol.

Thanks for playing. :)

The only way a laser beam is visible is if it passes through a vapour or dust that will reflect the light. Doesn't matter how powerful it is. Green laser beams can be seen in the dark because there are normally enough particles in the air to reflect enough light even at the low power of consumer grade lasers - and your eyes are more sensitive to green than to red.

**sigh**...

Guys...

The term "visible", whether its visible aimer, visible laser, etc. means that the laser light frequency is visible to the human eye. This means that you will SEE THE DOT. An infrared (IR) laser projects a dot that is not visible without IR detection gear. NO VISIBLE DOT.

Either way, there is no spiffy "laser beam" visible between the projector and the target, unless there is enough particulate matter in the air to reflect the light, and then all you are seeing is those particles being illuminated by the visible laser light. Go out at night with a powerful flashlight, and point it at some distant trees. You see a great big spot of light on the trees...you don't see the light in the air between the flashlight and the trees, unless it's foggy or misty. Then you can see the visible spreading cone of light reflecting off the mist...it looks cool, but it cuts down on the light reaching your target, because the more foggy it is, the more the light will bounce off the water particles in the air and the less of it will reach the intended target. A laser is the same deal, except the light spreads very little between projector and target, but it still becomes visible only when it bounces off something, whether that is the intended target or particles in the air.

Ooops...sorry, tmhobbies, you beat me to it.

thanks guys for the explanation. So now that I know there is no such thing as visible "pencil beam" laser, why some laser cost $300 and some cost $1200 or more? Why would someone choose class 3 laser instead of class 1 laser for their AR-15 and vice versa?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laser_safety

Has to do with the power of the laser, the specific application, etc.
