**sigh**...
Guys...
The term "visible", whether its visible aimer, visible laser, etc. means that the laser light frequency is visible to the human eye. This means that you will SEE THE DOT. An infrared (IR) laser projects a dot that is not visible without IR detection gear. NO VISIBLE DOT.
Either way, there is no spiffy "laser beam" visible between the projector and the target, unless there is enough particulate matter in the air to reflect the light, and then all you are seeing is those particles being illuminated by the visible laser light. Go out at night with a powerful flashlight, and point it at some distant trees. You see a great big spot of light on the trees...you don't see the light in the air between the flashlight and the trees, unless it's foggy or misty. Then you can see the visible spreading cone of light reflecting off the mist...it looks cool, but it cuts down on the light reaching your target, because the more foggy it is, the more the light will bounce off the water particles in the air and the less of it will reach the intended target. A laser is the same deal, except the light spreads very little between projector and target, but it still becomes visible only when it bounces off something, whether that is the intended target or particles in the air.
Ooops...sorry, tmhobbies, you beat me to it.
