Hello all
Recently found this type 99 Nagoya arisaka and would like to learn more about it, the bolt was missing the cocking piece when I found it, was able to find an early type 99 cocking piece for now to complete it but am on the hunt for one of the crude late war ones. The bolt matches the reciever. The bore on this rifle is mint. It has a 3 piece stock which I understand is correct for the last ditch rifles. This rifle appears to have been made very quickly and rushed out to the front! What year was it made in? I imagine it was made in the late 44 or early 45 but I’m not 100 percent sure! The mum has been partially ground but is still visible. Has a wooden buttplate that is secured by 3 nails! It has what I believe is the American soldiers name engraved on the buttstock, I have searched the name online and it appears that he served in the United States Navy in the war, so it must have been brought home after the war and then made it here somehow. What would a rifle like this be worth? Any info on the rifle would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Nice rifle!! No document that can say the exact date the arisaka are made.. Survive the war...

Nagoya type 99 série 21 date like 1944... No sure they made it until 1945
No type 99 marking on the top receiver that normal for a late type 99 with wooden buttplate

Your bolt knob is not the right for a late (last ditch) suppose to be welded with crude finish

That's a very nice rifle even if the bolt knob is missing you can find one easily... I have a last ditch type 99 and he don't match... I shoot it 2 times and he his fine. Don't believe the people say that they are dangerous.. A lot of myth with those rifle some guy shoot the training model and have been injuries beceause of the misunderstand of the arisaka they are crude but safe to shoot

That’s great to hear! Thank you very much for the info!

Saw one like this at the Jerseyville show. The bolt was not complete, the firing pin and spring were missing, and the price reflected this ($100.00).
Are bolt parts for these rifles easy to find?

You have to go through an importer like Prophet River, but before you bid on Gunbroker make sure that the seller will accept your bid, email them and explain the situation.

Not typically for a cocking piece. For a bolt body, yes.

Definitely e-mail the seller first to confirm they will ship to you.

You could also message the seller of e-bay item no. 254335148278 and ask if he would sell you just the cocking piece and ship to Canada.

This is that rifle, the firing pin, firing pin spring and the cocking knob were missing so I managed to find a sporterized type 99 today with full length barell, just chopped stock and I used the parts from that to make this functional. All that was missing was those few bolt parts, everything else looks original to me. I didn’t get it for 100 but I was very happy to pick it up still at a good price. I imagine the original bolt parts were not assembled properly and they may have fallen out and lost which is why they were missing, the bolt body and the extractor are matching to the rifle at least which is good!

Do you plan on shooting it? If you need ammunition I have a partial box of Norma I've had sitting in my ammo storage container for a long time. Send me a PM

Good for you.
There was another guy looking at the rifle before you bought it.
He told the woman (seller) that in his expert opinion the rifle was all bubba'd with butt plate missing, homemade bolt and so on...
