Because the SKS chinese with blade was first in production, I expect to be the best in workmanship.
Just an addendum on the F-Ts - The one I got from Tenda back in July was a '24-Million' serial number, which indicates it was 1980 production series. 1956 plus 24-M = 1980.
Iirc, unless it's from factory 26, dating a Chinese sks by serial is near impossible.
And dating it by the way you describe seems like an internet myth.
I had very satisfying target results from mine using some cheap non corrosive ammo. Fun to shoot and take apart.
Maybe they hadn't worked out all of the bugs?Because the SKS chinese with blade was first in production, I expect to be the best in workmanship.
No excuse, looks like I'm uninformed.Aren't pretty much all the FTs Factory 26's?
They're from the last couple years of production there anyway.
Joel - Here's what I did with irons this Summer; Then with a 'cheap UUQ reflex Holo' (3-4 MOA )mounted on a barrel mount. Shots 1-3 are CH-MS and 4-8 are with Barnaul SP at 100 yds. And pic of the F-T in a Tapco. The holo was a PITA to get zeroed !

Actually you need to use 1955 to plus your first 2 numbers of the SN, generally. So yours will be 1955+24=1979.I just checked mine and it's a "26" and per Yooper John's site: ( and this is NOT where I got my info on 'dating' the 26's. Can't find that right now. John is 'Updating his website. ) In pic below it's a '59.

no, all the bugs were worked out before they got it. the early production was a direct copy of the russianMaybe they hadn't worked out all of the bugs?
no, i think blades were made just before the war really got going so they were shipped to vietnam. FT were made during peace time so they were stored.'May be' best workmanship, but 'Practice . . . '
And is why 'blades' are in 'Used' condition where many of the F-Ts were kept in armoury.
Don't forget to post reloading results lol ♤♤♤♤♤Oh yeah? Cool! Glad you enjoy shooting yours. They were one of my first rifles way back (not an FT, but a Chinese SKS) and I thought the same.
Looking forward to seeing what I can do with one using a 29gr CFE BLK load with a good bullet. I don't shoot an SKS all that well, so time to push it and work on that.
Don't forget to post reloading results lol ♤♤♤♤♤
