If you want to buy a lathe, my advice is go big or go home.
I had a chance to try alot of lathes in my life and I really like most European stuff.
There is a couple of well made American machines as well...
I heard good things about the SB 10L. It sure looks pretty, I like that vintage look.
The small headstock assembly combined with the short main spindle must make barrel works very easy.
To me this machine looks like a real gunsmith lathe more than a heavy working/production machine.
As a machinist, my pick would be one of these Italian beauty, a Graziano lathe.
If you can find one in good shape at fair price, go for it !
