Just had call from a good source that Le Baron's is bankrupt anyone else hear this??

I'm a couple hours away from any store so can't drive out and see.

I haven't heard anything, but I expect that the opening of the new Cabelas in Ottawa will have a big effect on their Ottawa (Merivale Road) store.

I havent heard however i would not be surprised , will sux though only because they are my last resort fallback if much better venders can not help me ,"stock wise "

I was going to go there tonight. They are closed on Sunday which never made sense to me however whenever I go to the Markham one, it always has 20+ people in it.

I mean, it was neat when I was a kid and my dad ordered me my first (air) rifle out of their catalogue by mail. And it's kind of neat that they still basically have the exact same catalogue and mail order service. It is extremely weird, however, that they refuse to "get" the Internet and do online sales and inventory tracking. I don't know if your source is correct and when they would publicly declare it, but I don't predict that Le Baron really has a long term future.

This also kept me from ordering from them in the past. A user friendly website is required for most of my "distance" purchases.

I suspect this may be an unfounded rumour along the lines of the ones that start runs on banks. At least, searching on the internet brings up no such information and the financial world is not exactly one to hide such news.

Lebaron is the absolute worst store if you expect to walk in and find a certain item or gun in stock (although I will say that if you email in advance and ask if it's in stock at that store, you will get a prompt response, but I get that that is too much for today's ADD consumer)......

They are the best store to walk into to browse and find something you didn't even know you were looking for at a ridiculously low price......

I will leave it at that.....

I thought they are part of Sail.. maybe they are closing?

Edit: my mistake , Baron Sports is Sail's other store.

LeBarons is not "a part of Sail."

Whether their inventory was up to date or not, I can't see how the closing of an outdoor retailer is good for anybody... LeBarons prices were good and I did a fair amount of shopping in all three Ontario stores... and yes, there were often inventory disappointments, but I would be sad to see them go, if this rumour is true.

that " lady " at the Miss, store once replied to me questioning why they woundn't price match " why should I people around here will pay whatever I ask". In other words your all idiots and you wont bother to shop around. I actually hope she remembers telling me that if she reads this post, I know I'll never forget her demeaning and arrogant tone. Good ridden's and go luck finding a job again!

The story as I was told it by an old time employee is that LeBaron was owned by two brothers and one of them wanted to go in a new bolder direction but the other resisted. They ended up splitting and Sail is the completely independent result. Whatever, they started as a small little store in a rather crummy part of Montreal and have done pretty well for, you know, a basically Quebec based pair of companies. Sail is in fact so French here in Ottawa that they're often startled when someone speaks English to them.
