Lee 308 resizer die problem

I recently purchased a set of Lee dies for 308 . The resizer leaves a ring mark around the shoulder of the case as well another ring below the shoulder around the case. sent pics to Lee they tell me its normal for the brass to do that when resized, but when I resized some 250 sav and some 300 sav no rings.

Has anyone seen this before, I think there's a problem with the die and so does another buddy of mine, it looks like the brass will wear prematurely if I keep going with this die.

Anyone seen this before, and do you think its normal, or should I be getting a replacement.

If you can, post some pics...

Hae you loaded these brass before? What were they originally fire in if not? i've heard that military .308 is sometimes used in full auto rifles/machine guns, and the cases can be WAY stretched/expanded. i think trying to push the shoulder back too much can cause the cases to bulge or buckle? That's the only thing I can think of

The brass are my 1F, from my rifle.

Looks ike what i thought it was. I thought by the description that the cases were actually bulged out. Mine does the same thing wit the 1f brass I have.

Back end is normal. You can't size right to thr head because of the shellholder. Diameter of the solid casehead is slightly smaller than the diameter of the mouth of the die. Cases of other makes might look a bit different. Do the sized cases chamber easily?
Can't explain the effect just below the shoulder. Doubt that it is a problem. Have you tried sizing cases fired in a different rifle? Or cases of other makes?

I just noticed, it looks like your brass is a little dirty. These rings look like the places where the die was exerting fore on the brass, and rubbed the dirt off. Try wiping off the cases a bit, or rub a little 0000 steel wool on them, and I'm sure they'll look perfect.

Brass looks a little dirty. Did you tumble them with older media, or did you clean them at all?
Rings don't look all that abnormal, looks like you skipped a step in cleaning and maybe lube? where those rings are are exactly where the most resizing work is done in a full length resizing. Esp if the shoulder has to be bumped back.

My advice: Check for built up lube in the die (that's NOT the problem here, but the lube does build up). If this is not for a semi, get a Lee Collet Die for neck sizing and simply resize the neck. Also, use a little 000 steel wool and then wipe the case before applying lube and resizing.

First sizing session with this die, and brass. They are all winchester casings. I have not chambered any just finished reloading the ones iin the pics for some test rounds for another rifle. I will try sizeng some remmington casings next. I have a RCBS 308 die on its way, I am going to compare it to the lee 308, I hoping it doesn't do the same ring thing.

That could be your old 99's chamber causing the rings. It isn't removing any material, its just flattening it out. Thats its job.

Looks normal to me. My 308 casings look the same after sizing. I usually tumble them after sizing to remove any lube and those rings disappear.

Have you tried a different brand of case lube?
I got a bad can of lyman lube recently.
I tried my Lee lube and no problems.
Use lube sparingly and not on the necks.

It can't hurt to try.

Do those marks appear on a case after firing? If so its your chamber marking the brass. Roll up a little 600 grit paper and spin it in the chamber or die, which ever is causing the offense and your problem will vanish.
