Looking at these 2 items in particular for removing the primer pocket crimps on 5.56/.223 brass. My eyes are blurry from searching and trying to read through the threads to find what I’m looking for. I know a large deal of it is personal preference. That being said, I’ve always gone with the Dillon stuff, but I’m wondering if there are any guys who have switched from using the SS600 to the Lee APP for their 5.56 brass? Or vice versa, anyone had the Lee APP but then switched to the Dillon SS600? I realize the Lee APP can have other uses, but I’m looking at it for strictly processing the 5.56 brass in batches of 2000 (also, I still need more posts to access the EE)
Thanks

Thanks. My personal preference is to swage rather than remove material, and I don’t think I’ve ever heard any valid complaints with the Dillon. Just wondering if the Lee APP can do the job as good as the Dillon, with the option to do more stuff. I’m pretty biased towards the Dillon, but trying to be open minded and see if there is something better.

Had a Dillon for years. I finally gave up on surplus brass.
It worked fine. Did a few 1000. Haven't personally tried the Lee app. But most Lee stuff works. Pick your color

I had a Dillon and it worked well. I sold it since I don’t process crimped PPs any more. If I do, I hit the PP with a countersink.

APP is more versatile but takes more time to set up esp. with the case feeder. I’ve never used an APP - just my opinion with Lee stuff.

I bought a APP for depriming wanted to keep my main press clean. It’s not the best made piece of equipment but damn it sure works quick. Throw the case feeder on that and it would serve a guy well. Not sure on the pressure required to do crimped primers but Normal ones are no issue. For a 125.00 it’s hard to go wrong.

I have the RCBS swaging kit that works with the press so I can compare LEE APP to RCBS product… LEE’s swaging rod is under a spring load and I think it needs a stronger spring as it does not swage as much as RCBS does… However it is extremely fast compared to any other swaging toll I’ve seen…

I bought the APP to try for all my work brass I save. Watch a few videos, take a few minutes to set up the case feeding just right, and damn it's quick, works like a charm. I need to buy the 4 tube case feeder for it though. It works as fast as you can work the handle.

So I bit the bullet, pulled the trigger, whatever pun you want to use, and added some red to my blue reloading set up. My Lee APP arrived earlier this week, and yesterday I set it up. My xl650 was near the end of my bench, and I was able to punt the APP on the end of the bench 90deg in relation to the xl650 (if that makes any sense at all) so by loosening the one set screw on the Dillon case feeder, and turning it 90deg, it feeds right into the APP. I used a heat gun to flare the end of the APP feeding tube like a funnel so it fits snugly inside the Dillon case feeder tube, and it seemed to work flawlessly (the Dillon to Lee case feeding) I’m still relatively new to swaging primer crimps, so I’m proceeding cautiously not wanting to over swag. I ran a small batch of about 500 of my own once fired surplus Chinese 5.56 brass through, and it seemed to work amazingly well. In the batch, was also 5 remmigton 223 (also once fired by me) and they all gave me a bit of trouble (I am thinking it’s probably in my settings), but the rem brass is noticeably harder, and the cases stick on the swaging pin, or “pop off” with enough force that they fly over the casing collection bin. Also, the APP is not swaging the rem brass, but actually shearing off the crimp ring. Again, because of my lack of experience, I’m not going to blame the machine. I will keep playing with it until I’m certain it is set right.
