Does any other modern rifle barrel/receiver have the same size shank and thread as the lee enfield No4 Mk1?
Thanks in advance

Would be nice to know what barrel you are trying to fit to the Lee
In my book an Italian Carcano & Japanese type 38 & 44 are the closest
as all are 14V-TPI and approx. the right outside dia. Wouldn't just thread into place that is for sure.

Just looking at the easiest way to change an old lee enfield to a different caliber, Been doing a lot of research on it and checking all options, by the way, it`s a shot out already butchered enfield, be nice to build a lookalike enfield in a 223 sorta like they have been doing in Australia.

A take off .223 barrel with a shank large enough to be threaded to 1-14 could be fitted. Straightforward, I've done it.
The Australian conversions used a boltface with a countersunk recess to keep the case in place for extraction, and a plunger ejector.

That`s the kind of answer I`m looking for. Next question is, Which take off barrel has a shank big enough to re-thread? I`ve been reading about a ring silver soldered to the bolt face to create a recess for the rimless cartridge

I reworked a Sako varmint barrel. A Remington 700 would work. The barrel will have to be rethreaded, and headspace adjusted with a reamer, as necessary. M700 takeoffs appear in the EE regularly.

Do you know if the savage small shank barrel can be rethreaded for the enfield action?
