Looking at it all in one post, we are really starting build a good bit of info - and this is just one weapon type.

Eventually we will get there with other countries' arms. We have a good start on German kit too.

We have more in the works - I promise guys :) Shooting season is getting in the way at present, I for one am backlogged by at least 10 MKL entries that are past due :(

It's a lot of work to photograph them to studio quality and then write a non-plagiarized article quoting multiple references - trust me. And we do this for free - we're not profitable.

With thanks to Nigel Greenaway, we've updated the "Collectors Comments and Feedback" section of these entries in the England - Milsurp Knowledge Library (click here)http://www.milsurps.com/forumdisplay.php?f=12.

Nigel has written a brief add-on article accompanied by pictures, about the P14(F) special aperture rear sight with the fine adjustment screw, explaining how to identify some of the reproductions from the originals.

We have updated the Lee Enfield On-line Knowledge Libraries (Index of Articles)http://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=3611, as well added to the current "sticky" thread in the Commercial Auctions & Gossip Forum (click here)http://www.milsurps.com/forumdisplay.php?f=38. It provides coverage and feedback on some of the more interesting items that were recently sold at the Poulins and James Julia Auctions October 3-7, 2008.

Reference Thread - Poulins and James Julia Auctions (October 3-7, 2008) http://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=3897

We were fortunate enough to have our own Roving Reporter on the ground at these auctions, to examine and handle items up close and provide his opinion and analysis on some of the more interesting pieces that sold, such as a British No. 1 MK VI SMLE, Trials No.5 .22lr, Australian Experimental Rifle No. 6 Mk I and an Enfield No.1 Mark III* (Cutaway)

It appears that the same questionable LSA 1916 SMLE MK III sniper that was sold for $4,600 U.S. at the last Poulin's auction, March 7,8,9, 2008, was offered again and sold once again for $2,050 U.S. Review the pics and collector analysis in order to draw your own conclusions. The Australian No.6 Mk1 went for $700, but there's more to that story in the pics and the analysis as well. Finally, there's also some excellent pics of the No.1 Mk1 commercial SMLE that sold for $2,100 U.S.

Your comments added to that thread for the benefit of all collectors are welcome.

Badger

Pedersen "Selfloader" Rifle (Mfg by Vickers-Armstrongs Ltd., Crayford, Kent, England) http://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=3521

With thanks to Mr. Thomas N. Magee, Terry has added some very interesting new information on the Pedersen rifles and carbines, which has come to light recently in a piece Mr. Magee wrote for the "Favorite Firearms" section of the December, 2008 issue of the NRA's, "American Rifleman", titled, "An Unusual Vickers".

With thanks to Advisory Panel member Peter Laidler, an excellent new article has been added to the Technical Articles for Milsurp Collectors and Re-loaders (click here)http://www.milsurps.com/forumdisplay.php?f=25.

"The fore-end and handguards of the L42" (click here)http://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=4119

As Peter describes it … (or how to turn a silk purse into a sows ear)

This is the first of two fascinating articles by Peter. It's accompanied by his own detailed photo montage and provides a armourer's inside technical look at the No.4(T) to L42 conversion program, undertaken in several tranches at Enfield between 1970 and 1981.

Peter's follow up article, "The L42 and 39 Fore-ends" (How to put matters right!), which he says "will take one of the bodged and split original fore-ends and show you how to do a proper, old time REME Armourers repair.", will be also be published in the next few days as well.

Article Extract .....

These show the front or muzzle end of the converted No4 fore-ends for the L42 rifle. They’re pretty well self explanatory and the thinness of the wood is clear. Is it any wonder that as soon as the sniper tightened his sling on his arm, the wood would just crack …, then crumple! Who ever authorized such a ridiculous state of affairs and the two beech fore-ends are brand new and unused, straight from Ordnance!
