lee load master

Yes there are some useful bits of Information that I truly appreciate but there are also some comments that appear to have the attitude that I mentioned.

Why would Lee offer such junk on the market?

Because it isn't "junk", but you don't want to hear that. You had a (simple to correct) problem, can't acknowledge that it might be related to ... you ... and figure you can fix things by buying a different press.

When it needs an adjustment, will you just sell it and upgrade to a more expensive one again?

no one is talking about re-engineering, just adjusting. Mine worked fine for many thousands of rounds. The Loadmaster has some quirks, all manageable, and none related to pushing a case into the shell plate.

Every progressive press has adjustable bits. I'm the first to acknowledge the the LM is more finicky than others, but there's no silver bullet out their either.

I had a conversation with a friend of mine two weeks ago.
He asked me if i knew anything about Dillon 650.
Seems he is at his wits end trying to figure out why it crush's
cases on one of the stations(cant remember which one)
Yes he did call Dillon customer service.
Still cant fix it.
So this proves they ALL require fiddling and adjusting at some point,
even the "upper end" models.

And why would it be a pain to reload 308 without auto-index?....I do 30-06 and it`s a breeze...

because i'm USED to having an auto index and i find the dillon FIDDLY- which is something you CAN do with a loadmaster- it's just one more step to remember to TURN THE WHEEL MANUALLY- i culd also complain about the complicated way you have to change the shellplate to change calibers , compared to the loadmaster- you need an allen wrench and 3 hands, whereas with the loadmaster it's spin off, change plates and spin on

Why I love threads like this

I can load 200 rounds an hour on my Lee Classic Turret Press, Very strong and smooth cycling. I only shoot 2000 pistol rounds a year so for $120 it more that suits my needs.

I love threads like this as they expose real user experiences like this one above. When I get into pistol-shooting, I will probably get one just like this guy. $120? At 2k rounds a year, his ROI would be fantastic!

For the OP, sorry for your poor experience, but it's pretty obvious from the other answers here that the problem could be solved and none too difficultly too. Good luck with your new one!

Well after a lot of convincing I gave it another try ..... Yes, I got the loadmaster back. I tried further adjustments ...... I was able to load 1 tube out of four from the 4 tube coalator (sp?) Several rounds didn't prime. Oh, I almost forgot .... one primer detonated during the loading process! Ever had that happen to you? Sure as H*** got my attention! Tell me again how good the Lee junk really is!

1) use a bigger hammer, you only got one to go off
2) more seriously, maybe reloading isn't for you - at least not progressive reloading. It isn't for everyone, and the problems you're having and your approach to solving them suggests that you might fall into that category.

i KNOW how to fix that priming problem, but it's POINTLESS on one that will not see- btw, it's in the manual

At most I was able to get 150 pistol rds out of my Lee Turret press, any faster than that I started making mistakes and that's feeding cases, primers and bullets by hand. My Loadmaster will do 400 an hr with about a .5-1% primer failure rate. My pro 1000 is used to load .223, it works fine but I wish it had a 4th station. i would not recommand a Pro 1000 to beginers, it's a bugger to clean when your powder dumps into the priming system.

WTF?..You`re serious?....Complicated?...Three hands?.....Have to remember to -gasp - manually turn the wheel:eek::runaway::runaway:

My friend .. I take this as an insult! I have loaded several thousand rounds on a bagged out Lee 1000 with minimal problems. I, and some of my friends who have done a lot more loading than me, have suggested that there may be an issue with the press. I don't give up easily, but this POS is trying my good nature!

Let me know how much you want for it! :dancingbanana:

My Loadmaster runs great. It does need minor adjustment sometimes but keep her clean and it works awesome.

Chances are you did not set yours up correctly, sorry.

Well now that we have gone through the "you are smarter than I am" rhetoric. Why would Lee offer such junk on the market? I made a huge mistake, yes .... I did! Won't do it again! The next one will be blue!!!

I stand by my comment after my experience earlier today. This POS is junk! I wouldn't even sell it to anyone because I wouldn't want to see anyone hurt and I certainly wouldn't want to take advantage of anyone. This junk is going in to the garbage!

I've wiped my A$$ with a lot more than the 400$ in the loadmaster in the past so this is not a big $$$ hit.

Actually I was going to order a Load Master so if you want to get back some of your money then send me a PM with the price you want.

One man's junk is another man's treasure. No offense but if you are gonna toss it, then toss it; or sell it to someone who has less money than you obviously do and is willing to make your "junk" work for them.

You think it is junk? Fine. Others disagree with you? Also fine.
Either side being an overt ass about it? Not fine IMHO.
Grow up guys.

Personally? No clue about a loadmaster, never owed one.
