All I will say is that lots of the Lee stuff stinks.
They laugh at you when you tell them the toggle broke.
The manual trimmer for 223 is JUNK.
Their [SAFETY SCALE ] IS JUNK.[ MOST PEOPLE BUY ANOTHER ONE, [THEY ARE NOT SATISFIED].
THEIR [RGB], DIES ARE JUNK.
I SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE.
THEIR RELOADING MANUAL IS NOT THE BEST EITHER.
THEI CUSTOMER RELATIONS IS [NO GOOD]
THEIR BIG PRESS IS GOOD AND I LIKE IT.
THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU BUY ANY LEE PRODUCTS!!!
Is this going to turn into a Dodge, Ford, Chevy, ##### thing?
Lee still offering a 2 year warranty? What else is there to say?
That they don't care about the 2 years. They'll replace/fix your stuff for free if it's broken. There's some limit, but the limit isn't 2 years.
These companies are aware of the good old apache trick for warranty. They know everything mechanical eventually breaks. They factor that into the price of the stuff they sell. They charge you 3 times what an honest price is, and when it breaks they give you those 50¢ parts for "free".
In the meantime if Lee was so bad they would be out of business by now. Instead you get 90% of the quality for 50% of the price. Even their crappy stuff (Pro1000, C-type press, loaders) are priced so low they've created a market that wouldn't even exist without them. For some stuff (decapping die, factory crimp dies, etc.), they are better than the competition, for less.
Sorry, I've already been there, done that with Lee. I'll give you 20% of the quality for 1/2 the price but only because you caught me in a good mood. A few things I still use, like my carbide pistol dies and the handgun FCD.
Much of what you say sounds like what I said when I was young and broke. I talked myself into a lot of junk, resented the people that told me it was junk, got by with junk (sorta). In the end the junk didn't save me money, it cost me money.
Maybe you'll get there some day, maybe you won't.
I'm not insulting anyone; just offering them a chance to learn from my mistakes.
