Left hand Tikka T1x Canada 22lr

My LH T1x 17HMR is slightly more accurate than my old 452 17HMR. That's only with a couple different loads tho. So it may go the other way with different loads, or be a wash. The trigger is quite a bit better out of the box. The old 452 had a YoDave kit in it, so was very close in terms of weight and break quality.

The similarity in ergos and feel between the T3x and T1x is very nice. But the T1x comes with a reduced LOP. Adding a real recoil pad would probably 'fix' that, if a guy wanted.

Just FYI, the rails are different and not interchangeable from the T3x to T1x. At least the EGW and Area419 rails I have. (Highly highly recommend the Area419 Tikka rails BTW. Fantastic design and workmanship.) Obviously the benefits of having Pic rails on your rifles still apply tho.

I'm still anxiously awaiting the 22LR T1x. Come on already Tikka!

Ah, thank you for the correction and your input!

Funny, I thought that the rails were different, but then a local gun store told me they were interchangeable.

I'll trust your experience over their opinion.

I appreciate the tip on the Area419 rail, too. I wondered who made a good one.

I would just leave it stock if they included one. Like on the T3X.

I wonder why they made the LOP and rail compatibility different, though?

The stocks are interchangeable. Why not the rails?

I see these LH T1x for sale now on certain sites. I did a pre order 18 months ago, my LGS has not got there allotment in yet. Very tempted to buy one and cancel my pre order, or should I wait for the call that its in? Not sure how the allotment works. Do certain shops get stock priority over others?

If they are in fact available in Canada now, send an email to the Distributor Stoeger Canada and find out who they have recently sent stock to.

I would contact your shop and explain your situation. Could motivate them to make a phone call or two to their distributor to figure it out.

PGT is very close to me, when they show up, ill have to snag one there!

And as a bonus, they’re awesome to deal with! Good luck! Hope you find one soon. It’s been a long wait.

(I’m half expecting to open the box and see a RH rifle laying there, but I tend toward pessimism. Haha. )

It arrived a few days ago. Fast shipping by P&D!

And... it’s a real life LH T1x 22LR! P&D is still showing stock, for anyone still looking.

I was interested in these when they were unobtanium so I settled on a CZ527 American. In the few years I've had it, it has only been out a couple of times.
Let us know how the Tikka stacks up to the CZ527.

Well Sir, I can only compare the T1x and 452 in 17HMR. Never did own a 527 or find a 452 in 22LR...

The CZ is definitely a fine rifle, with classic build. I was never quite happy with how scopes had to be mounted on that old action and the trigger needed a light spring to be decent.

The Tikka is more of an 'appliance', if that makes sense, but less quirky. Easier to adjust triggers and mount scopes, with the low bolt lift.

Accuracy in the two 17s was very close. I tried 3 types of ammo in this new 22 on the weekend, 2 were subMOA at 100y. Not bug holes, but not bad for 'cheap' hollow points. CCI Velocitors were the most accurate by quite a bit. I have a couple types of SK Match and one S&B to try in it next. Should get to the range one evening this week.

I don't think you can go wrong with the CZ or the Tikka. :)

My uninformed understanding is that for a MDT ACC, the only difference is the small bolt handle cutout. The cutout could be made as an at-home modification.

Thanks for the info but I'm not spending close to 2k for a chassis alone. Also cutting it out on my own would probably look like crap. If it's so easy I don't understand why MDT doesn't offer to cut it professionally for me.

It's not surprising MDT didn't offer a chassis for a rifle (LH .22lr T1X) that didn't exist. Now that the rifle is around you should contact them. They care and listen to customers requests.

Myself I got tired of waiting on Tikka and am thankful Ruger made a LH 10/22.

I did. I originally ordered the xrs chassis not thinking about the left hand issue then had to cancel the order cause they didn't offer any left hand option.
