Legalize suppressors thread!!! Please move to general discussion

Start asking Hunters in general what they think of Suppressors? The ignorance will astonish you....

You guys aren't being very nice. Calling hunters ignorant fudds isn't going to move our "making suppressors legal" thread forward.

If you have something against hunters because of something that happened when I was in diapers you really have to get over it man! We have to be one. Gun owners can't be against another because they have different taste in firearms.

I asked some hunters. They either said they didn't know or that it would be nice.

Please stick to moving this thread forward. Thanks!

Obviously the first thing we need is a CPC majority.

The second step should be to identify CPC MP's that may be sympathetic to our cause or at least be willing to listen.

Then we present our argument bouyed with a bunch of factual evidence. Possibly a live demo would be a good tactic as there is nothing like seeing and more importantly hearing these things first hand.

If at that point they choose to blow us off then we need to look at legal action to force the law to be changed.

this is good advice right here, my friend has done quite a bit of work with Mike Lake in getting the RCMP to update him on his guns FRT status, so with enough poking he may be willing to listen. although we would need a few firearms manufacturers with the proper business licenses (all around the country) to help with the suppressor show & tell.

That is not gonna be easy as there are only about 3 or 4 companies in the entire country that either make or are knowledgible about suppressors. Just because a company has "prohibited devices" on their licence doesn't mean they know anything about suppressors.

well even just contacting these companies for their licences to request cooperation so we could gain access to some suppressors for video demo's etc. Unless Suputin you are able to video some demo's? Cause as it's been said the proof is really in hearin a suppressor in action

I guess thats true, but as you said, nothing like hearing it in person. I know guys like Wolverine have demo's for Mil/LEO I would think they have some guys that are in the know about that kind of stuff? Maybe questar too?

I don't mind providing video demo's but we need to decide what the video should demonstrate.

While video is a decent tool, there is no substitute for hearing these things first hand. The audio portion of videos can be quite misleading at times.

How about try a comparison between an unsuppressed .22 (both rifle and handgun) then a suppressed 9mm or even a 5.56... Considering the 5.56 has a sonic crack it should still be pretty loud compared to the .22

Just throwing out ideas :D

The lack of comprehensionof the English language here is what often astonishes me. To say that there is a high level of ignorance regarding a specific topic within a given community is not necessarily a vilification of that group, merely of their lack of knowledge (and sometimes of their lack of interest in taking in said knowledge).

It's all about education and communication - I too have spoken to fellow hunters who stated "What the Hell woud anyone want something like that for - that's for gangsers...", however when the whole concept was explained to them and perhaps demonstrated by having them fire their .300 Win Mag followed by a .22LR the light seemed to come on.

We need to realize that not all hunters are "shooters" per se, just as many shooters are not "hunters". We need not write-off someone just becouse they're not in our immediate community, instead give them a reason to join us...

Also maybe use some examples from European countries where suppressors can be purchased over the counter (France) or with a permit.

Thanks.

I fixed my spelling error in my post.

Why are so many people on here set on making others feel bad?

Yeah I failed Academic English in high school and had to do applied. I'm not good at English. I don't think its my fault and I don’t think you should attack me because of it.

Can't we all just get along! hahaha lets stay focused guys and gals! Suputin any kind of video even to just educate those on the forum to generate support here will be greatly appreciated.

Wish people would make up their mind...

That wasn't an attack my friend - and I thought I was pretty clear that we need to bring folks into our tent, not drive them out. ;) (education/communication).

The spelling thing was merely a dig ergo the "poke the beehive" emoticon...:D

I think we all need to sit down somewhere for a beer or a coffee - I'm convinced that the interweb has made us all very thin-skinned and sensitive as a society. A bit of criticism does not mean dislike or disloyalty and we all (myself included) should be able to take a bit without getting our backs up.:)

It would be a ####tay place if we all agreed all of the time, no???

I couldn't agree more. First things first. Lets hope the the CPC gets a majority and scraps the long gun registry. I have used a MP-5SD and also supressed rifles and its a no brainer.Sound supressors make so much sense. Its all about education.

I so need sound suppressors for my firearms I am totally deaf in my left ear and I can no longer hear high tones in my right ear and yes when there is a majority CPC government I will be pushing to be allowed to possess sound suppressors...

this is going to be hard mainly because once people hear about the idea of suppressors equal becoming a hitman and start assassinating people. I blame the media for this and in order for suppressors to be legal, we have to educate other and show them that they're not used for assassinations
